Horrific footage shows girl, two, run over TWICE as dozens of people ignore her lying stricken on the road


Video footage of a two-year-old girl being run over by a van and ignored by passersby in China has sparked outrage after being posted online.

The graphic surveillance video of the incident on October 13 in Foshan city, Guandong province, shows the girl run over by a van, which then drives off leaving her bleeding on a narrow street.

More than a dozen people walk or drive past the critically injured girl without going to her aid before she is run over by a second truck.

A woman - the 19th person to pass the girl - pulls her to the side of the street before her mother, a migrant worker in the city, rushes into the picture.

The girl, named online as Yue Yuem, is in a coma in hospital according to Xinhua news agency.

China Daily, the country's official English-language newspaper, said she had been declared 'brain dead' and could die at any time.

Both drivers who ran her over have been arrested, but internet users have flooded microblogs over the apathy of the people who left her to die.

China's economic boom and the growing disparity between the rich and poor have made changing social values a contentious topic, with some lamenting what they see as materialism replacing morals.

On China's microblog service Sina Weibo, one user called the incident 'the shame of the Chinese people'.

Another user, under the name Xiaozhong001, wrote: 'Really, what is up with our society? I saw this and my heart went cold.

'Everyone needs to do some soul-searching about ending this kind of indifference.'

Many people in China are hesitant to help people who appear to be in distress over fears they will be blamed.

High-profile law suits have ended with good Samaritans ordered to pay hefty fines to individuals they sought to help.

I wish i hadn't wached that video. Truly horrific.

Wtf is wrong with everyone, they just walk past her body as if nothing has happened.

Also the woman who eventuaally helps her just picks up her body and drags it to the side.

One person should not walk past never mind dozens. No wonder there is outrage, there should be with footage like that.

I stopped the clip at the 1:43 mark it was more than enough for me. It was right after it happened. See the piece of shit that drove over the kid, they should be subjected to severe torture and then made die real slowly. The cunt didn't run over her and then stop and get out, the prick just stopped, then started the van rolling again and went forward and over the kid with the back wheels. I know what I would do to the fucker in the van and I wont type it here what that is exactly. I'd make the fucking cunt suffer if I got hold of it, so much so, that they would be talking about it for decades to come!. And the same goes for the shit that just ignored the situation.

I'm not sure if I should be crying or be outraged. Things like these make me feel... helpless. No matter how hard I believe in values, in some kind of morale and good, no matter how hard I believe the world could be much better if we all had some decency and lived by those values, there's always some news or a vid like this that confronts me with the cold truth: we don't give a fuck but for ourselves.

Yesterday I watched this vid where a dog saved another dog that was hit by a car on the highway. Amazing isn't it, that we consider ourselves as a higher being but we can learn so many things from what we consider a pet.

That's typical Chinese behaviour. At least in the major cities. Several friends of mine, who were in China, told me similar things they witnessed. One of my friends told me of a woman, who fainted in the streets and was ignored by dozens of people walking by.
It's not just that it is typical social behaviour, it is worsened by the fact that people who help are very likely to even get sued for it. Don't get me wrong, I too think this kind of behaviour is horrific, but it'll take a long time before this changes.

I know for a fact that even in downtown Detroit that if a kid got hit by a Van there would be someone that would run to her aid!!
