I'm starting to see where you are going with this. My reaction (appalled anger, to be honest) might be largely due to my being American. We do tend to be a little bit quick on the trigger when compared to most other nationalities. We did nuke two cities to finally end WW2, we generally don't fuck around. I don't know that much about Hitler, most books regarding Hitler, which are widely available in the USA, are along the lines of "The Psychopathic God". Culture here is slanted waaaaaay to the side of Hitler = Bad.

I'm an opened minded person in most cases, but come on, if there's one guy nearly universally hated, for good reason, it's Adolph. I don't want to read his book, and I wouldn't encourage anyone else to, either. In America, if someone sat down in a library, bar or coffee shop and pulled out a book entitled "I (heart) Hitler", I can pretty much guarantee that person would get their ass kicked.

It might be a cultural thing, but that's the culture I was born and raised in.

It's always a good thing to view history from all kind of angles to better understand it (as goes for all kind of subjects). So having this book available isn't a bad thing: it helps you understand who he was en what he believed in.

But that being said the main issue of the opening post is not that it becomes available - as others already mentioned, you can get it everywhere - but that it becomes available in Germany. Despite the war being long over it still throws a shadow on Europe. In Germany there is still this feeling of guilt, and the rest of Europe still associates Germany with THE war and nazism. I think that has a lot to do with the portrayal of that war (and Germany) as 'good versus bad'. People should learn that that war is long gone and that the present Germany is nothing like that anymore. Why would it be shocking to have Mein Kampf available in Germany? Why would it be shocking to have Germans waving their national flag during sport events? Or have their armies participating in actions during the Golf War for example? It isn't, but yet I remember that in my country it was always mentioned by a news reporter during the news how weird all those things were. As if it is something like a taboo. And I do blame this on a lack of knowledge and an education system where everything is simplified to 'good versus bad'. So having this book available in Germany is a good thing in my opinion. It helps understanding the past if you care to read it. But it also helps to dissolve this taboo.

I've read Mien Kampf, it's a pile of brain droppings. its as bad as "the God Delusion" (Dawkins) or "The Way Things Aught To Be" (Limbaugh) read those too. I have a similar experience with all three books, after about 5 minutes i realize I'm just saying the words in my head and have no idea what the Hell they are talking about, because my brain had shut off.
It became obvious to me the authors are just placating to the puppet show in their heads, and anyone could make anything out of that shit.
Give that shit to people with an agenda and watch the freak show begin. I'm certain somewhere in the world some one is committing human sacrifices in the name of Dr. Sues.
quote any of those books to the followers of them, and you will get a blank expression on there face, because even if they have read it, they are only interested what their own personal head puppets told them what the books said.
want to avoid a world war - educate and feed the masses - and no one will even bother reading it let alone actually think it means anything.

I think it is a good thing that the book is available.

I do not agree with what you say but I would fight for your right to say it

But I agree with Thomas O'Malley, there should be some restrictions for kids. Something like PG-16

You can still get the protocols of zion the hoax. Same shit different era and author. I think people are sufficiently educated enough to understand the folly of his book.

Why save the world, when you can rule it?

Even a Czar was smart enough to recognise that, Hence why MK should be published.

Why do governments try to protect people then against themselves and others? Why does your signature has such a clear message? Anything can be changed, one way or another. Problem is just how to get the attention of people and how to make then listen to your message to protect them making the same mistakes made in the past.
