Hiroshima, 64 years ago

There is an argument among historians that the bombings were a war crime at least :dunno:
Argument being the operative word

but to say we americans are like the nazis i mean come on your just begging to get something started with that statement

an opinion is like an asshole everyone has them and they usually stink but im proud to be an american dont ever call me a fucking nazi

but to say we americans are like the nazis i mean come on your just begging to get something started with that statement

I guess that is a pretty inflammatory statement
I was thinking about the acts themselves rather than who committed them

Fact: The Japanese were given ample oppurtunities to surrender to a totally lost cause, the war was over for them, but they refused to submit.

Fact: The Japanese never made any apologies for Pearl Harbor, The Phillipines, Nan King, or any other of the dozens of atrocities, cowardly acts of cruelty, or crimes against humanity they commited. They number of Japanese found guilty of war crimes was pitiful compared to the Germans. Many just walked away.

Was it the right thing to do? Is it for us to judge? we werent there, all we can offer is an opinion. But I bet you get no complaints from the millions of Allied soldiers that had their lives spared by not having to invade the main island of Japan.

You weren't alive during this time period, he's not calling you a Nazi. It's not nazism by association.

He feels that those involved commited as much of a crime as those on the Nazi side. You may or may not agree with that, but he's not calling you personally a Nazi.

We undoubtly saved both american and japanease lives by using them as opposed to what would have happened with a conventional invasion of japan.

Also with all the money and resources we had spent on the manhattan project they were going to be used barring a japanease surrender before that.

Tragic but the 2nd world war saw a lot of tragedy.

And yeah the A bombs were like fire crackers power wise compared to the thermo nuclear H bombs that came later and have been a sword hanging over mankinds survival since at least the early 60s.

Someone comparing tyhe USA to Nazis in that situation is just plain ignorant on many levels.
I guess we can mostly thank the US school system for that.

I mean why not compare them to the Japanese themselves, who killed many more and did more disgusting things to humans than the Nazis ever did?
Oh yeah, The schools only tell you aboutthe Germans, Japanese get a pass.
Teacher why did the civil war happen? To free the slaves.
Teacher why did WWII happen? To save the jews.

"Just" at those times on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, U.S.A. was like Nazi Germany during World War II. Nazi Germany did it long and U.S.A. did it in the blink of an eye.

I'm a big fan of USS Enterprise CV-6 and it did all of its missions in very noble ways. Imperial Navy attacked US Navy and US Navy responded with a huge campaign against Imperial Navy. That's the thing to do.

War must be fought among armies, not among innocent people and armed people. I hate every kind of weapons, especially weapons of mass destruction.

I really love American nation and American values but when it comes to international policy, i hate American foreign policy. And, American way of fighting wars is highly questionable and also mean in some aspects.

And, i never talk like a true moron and do not want ":ban:" for you. We are sharing our thoughts and feelings in here like the mature members of a civilised society.

But I bet you enjoy living in the freedom that is/was provided to you by the policies you question. A major portion of which was provided by many of the same men who ordered the atomic weapons to be used on Japan Everyone hates American policy, but who does the world call on when they need a cop???

^ My freedom wasn't provided by U.S.A.. I as a Turkish have a free country since 1923.
Thanks to Turkish Revolution and Ataturk. None of freedom wars of U.S.A. has effected my freedom negatively or positively, they just saturate the weapon manufacturers and politicians' egos.

Calling for cop? We are dealing with a terrorist organisation since 1984. We haven't proudly called U.S.A. for help. Even tough we call them, they won't come.

World is not equal to U.S.A.. Being a world power doesn't make you the owner of everything, it makes you the controller of almost everything. And all world powers in history have been temporary, U.S.A.'s time will come.

Germany killed 6,000,000 Jews in death camps. the atomic bombs combined killed about 300,000 and not in camps.

you do understand that Japan and Germany were working on the atom bomb at the same time too, right? we just happened to finish first.

the Japanese wouldn't give up and invading the home islands would have been even more costly as far as human life is concerned (for both sides).

to even compare the US to Nazi Germany shows how ignorant you are

No offense......Actually yes offense.
Your ignorance is extreme.
So by your POV I must ask.
Do the Chinese babies and little boys that the Japs used for Bayonet practice and the women and young girls that they gangraped then burned alive for 30 years prior to the bomb count for anything?
Or is it just nazis did this and USa did that in your brain?
Learn your history.
Its just funny how people who say they care are so selective on who they actually care about.
I think your probably out to lunch

The battle of Iwo Jima proved that the Japanese were prepared to fight to the last man, preferring death over surrender in defense of their homeland. the estimation of one million killed if there was an invasion of Japan was fair and accurate. even after the first A-bomb, Japan did not surrender. it was only after the second bomb, and the threat of more, did they quit.

Watch The War by Ken Burns and what went on in the Pacific theater and how the Japanese behaved towards civilians and their own belief of death before surrender and you'll never again question the morality or the practicality of dropping those bombs.

Umm.. ever heard of NATO? That your country was a member of? If you were attacked, who do you think would have been on the way to save you if the Soviets would have rolled across your border? We even had bases in your country to keep that from happening. Owner of everything? The USA has taken millions upon millions of acres in wartime and the only land we retained was to bury our dead. And what are the chances that you would be a free country today if the Nazis where still in power? or the Soviets went unchecked during the Cold War?

the USA will fall from it`s perch one day, not anytime soon I`m sure, history repeats itself over and over..

You guys are all dumb. You really believe that happened?

The Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was just invented by the liberal media to make the US look bad.
