Hate Vikings Thread

After hearing what Moss said/did it seems he was out of line. I had a friend who dealt to Moss in the high stakes at a casino back in the day as well, and he said Moss has a chip on his shoulder. Whatever. Next up to not let the dorr hit 'em on their keester on the way out, Childress or Favre.

You know football, correct? Are you aware of all the destruction that offense did - not to mention Randy? He was/is the best wide out in history. Forget Rice. Moss is better. :2 cents:

And they still didn't even make it to the Super Bowl, let alone win it. Greatest offense ever? No doubt. Greatest team ever? Not even close. Greatest teams ever win Super Bowls. They weren't even the greatest team that year.

And forget Rice? We're talking about arguably the greatest player in the history of American Football, not just wide receiver. Player. 23,000 yards receiving. 200 touchdowns. 1,600 receptions. Not to mention his leadership and unparalleled work ethic. I'm not even going to mention the Super Bowl rings Rice owns, or the fact that Moss may have been on 2 of the greatest offenses ever, he was also on 2 of the greatest choke jobs ever.

Moss is a distant, distant 2nd to Jerry Rice.

If you're going by talent and production relative to his contemporaries (what we would call dominance) the best Wide Receiver would be Don Hutson. He had 2 MVPs and won 3 Super Bowls. The numbers he put up compared to others wide receivers in his time (look this shit up, seriously) would be like someone catching 250 passes for 3000 yards and 50 TD in a season today. Just saying.

Awwww I thought this thread would be about rape and pillage :(

You start your franchise with Rice, I'll take '98, '03 and '07 Moss as I start mine. '98 Moss = best wide out ever.

This is the man who is, by far, the most lethal receiver that has ever played the game. There are some who will make the case that they would take him over Jerry Rice, but that’s another story for another day. The man has done things that force you to remember where you were when he did what he did. I remember being at home on Thanksgiving Day 1998, and even at 16, I realized my Dallas Cowboys were in a world of trouble. They passed up on Moss in the draft, and how did the young man (at the time) make them pay? Three catches, three touchdowns, and all of a different variety.

That’s juice. It’s the kind of Juice Bishop talked about, when he was schooling the crew at Steel’s house. That’s power. It’s the kinda power Kanye’s talking about in his new video, when he said “no one man should have all that power.” Admittedly, the man has made the amazing look routine for years, and it’s to the point where folks, at least I, have been conditioned to see him doing it, that when he doesn’t do it, it seems like a crime against humanity. The man catches passes one-handed, two-handed, and no-handed. He balances the sideline with one foot, two feet, and no feet. The bottom line is no one in the league can do what he does; not now, not in the past, and not ever.

Word. :pimpdaddy

In totally unrelated news, NFL.com has just named Jerry Rice the greatest player of all time. http://top100.nfl.com/ Your boy is quite a ways down that list son.

Okay, I admit it, I'm biased. The early Viking Moss club was probably the last team I remotely gave two shits about. :anonymous

It's hard for me to ever root for those queers in purple again after hiring the Anti-Christ himself, Mr. Favre.

There's really still no comparison. Rice was lightyears ahead of Moss.

Rice was was also generally with a primary QB his whole career, and both - Young and Montana - are among the greatest of all time.

Moss has never had any real stability for his assault; the best was clearly Brady but that was short lived. One of the years he was with Brady he broke the single-season record for TDs. :2 cents:

Comparing Randy Moss to Jerry Rice is like comparing Reggie Miller to Michael Jordan. Reggie Miller was clearly a better 3 point shooter. That's it. Jordan was a better defender, better scorer, better competitor, better leader, better work ethic, mentally stronger, and is guaranteed to win your organization more championships. Randy Moss is a better deep threat than Jerry Rice. That's it. Rice is a better route runner, has the better hands, better work ethic, better competitor, was mentally stronger, and is guaranteed to win your organization more championships. There isn't a GM who ever lived who would take a prime Moss over a prime Rice, just like no GM would ever take Miller over Jordan.

I agree he had no real stability at QB, but that's partly his fault for getting himself run out of town. Other than Tom Brady, he had Randall Cunningham and Daunte Culpepper, who were pretty damn good themselves.

Cunningham being the better of the two, especially when he decided to be a pocket passer as well. Honestly, there was no reason whatsoever for the Vikings in '98 to have lost to the Atlanta Falcons. Had they gone to the super bowl, they would have won hands down. The situation is the same as it was last year. Had they beaten the Saints, the Vikings would have undoubtedly crushed the Colts.
