Has WWE gone downhill?

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
I hasn't been good in twenty years. It's heyday was 1983-89 although around 1974/75 when I could only get it on the UHF channel it was fun in an old fashioned sort of way.

Rick Flair, Wahoo McDaniels, Rufus "Freight Train" Jones... ah, the Saturday afternoon memories.

Now I'm hearing rumors that it's fake? :dunno:

WWE is fucking crap and has been since the fall of ECW and WCW. But, it has only gotten worse in the alst few yrs. the Attitude era/ monday night Wars was in the best period in wrestling.

Raw is the worst wrestling show. It's terrible. Being rated PG, Cena, HHH, stupid hosts, etc, WWE is fucking garbage!

Yes it seems to be lacking as of late, and not just because it is all fake. Quick side bar, yes people that watch know it is fake, but it is a soap opera for guys and in that light no different or worse then daily soap operas that are on from 1 to 5 and cater to women.

So is it lacking because of the talent, the writing, or both? I think some of the talent is stale and too recycled, but others look like they could do so much with half thought out story lines.

Or is it ownership that only cares about milking out every dollar then can, and be dammed the product?

I have to agree. How many more times are we going to be subjected to Chavo vs Hornswoggle!?!

Plus watching Cena vs Orton vs HHH vs Legacy each and every week is getting old.

Only watching Smackdown nowadays. It's better, but not by much.

I would say yes it is. However I don't really blame anyone really, everything goes downhill eventually and then it will come back better then ever, then downhill again. TNA isn't really a threat to WWE at this time but considering that they have signed a deal with Playboy then that could be major competition for WWE in terms on having hot women, WWE going PG is the most retarded thing ever, sure stars such as John Cena and Batista are popular with kids but hey so was the Rock and Stone Cold when at a time WWE was pretty much the rating it was before this whole PG crap. Maybe it is way for them to wait for TNA to catch up and then go back to what it was before then the real war will begin. WWE does have many backstage problems but isn't TNA now going through the same thing with the whole Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarret and Karen Angle thing?

i found that it started dying when stone cold and the rock left

I agree. Wrestling is so lame right now. The Rock had charisma and was a good wrestler. Stone Cold was just a damn fool and was funny like The Rock. But the most important thing was that they could wrestle. John Cena is a horrible wrestler with them wack ass movies. WWE just dont have the people that can wrestle anymore like Chris Benoit(RIP) I like Randy Orton and Chris Jericho but thats about it

WWE always sucked unless you were a kid because you wanted to be like them and believed that they are actually fighting and it is not scripted. UFC is now far and above wwe and i believe boxing.

The WWE isn't nearly as good as it used to be, but it's not because it is as bad as we think it is. As it is with anything in life, you get used to things being a certain way and, when those things change, it's never as good as you remember it; the same goes for wrestling. It's never going to be as good as the days when The Rock, Stone Cold, Kane (masked), Mick Foley, The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz and DX were at the top of their game.

Do the newer wrestlers lack something that the older wrestlers had? Yes, absolutely. But, they're not as bad as people make them out to be. Sure, some of the matches are complete garbage now and are extremely disappointing, but it doesn't help that we do nothing but compare the newer generation to The Attitude Era - it's never going to be that good again...ever.

Thanks for all the replys. ChefChitown you are so right. Can't really compare what's going on now to the attitude era. There are a few guys i will watch but they tend to be the ones who are held back such as Christian/R-Truth/MVP. Jericho is as good now as he's ever been so will always watch WWE if he's on.

For me, I stopped watching or caring with the Benoit tragedy and the roids scandal of, what, 2 years ago?

I used to be a big fan and loved the Monday Night Wars...but after WCW was bought, the end was in sight.

I could barely stomach DX2006.

Kurt Angle is the greatest pro wrestler ever in terms of ring ability, charisma, microphone work, ability to play Face or Heel characters, creativity...pretty much whatever measurement you want, Angle Pwns. But he has been pretty boring on TNA and I think he's finished.

I think WWE will be better without Vince in charge. I think Shane might be able to save the entertainment. Steph and HHH in charge will be a nightmare....

Edge might be the future GM of the show too....

Raw is a JOKE i am no longer watching it last monday episode was the worst ive ver seen :dunno:. Long Live Smackdown

Maybe it's just because my kid was so into it when he was young, but I was always more of a WCW fan than WWF/WWE. Monday Nitro right before football was a tradition in our house.

Hogan, Flair, Nash, Savage, Piper, Brett Hart, Kurt Hennig, the Steiners, Rey Mysterio, Stevie Ray, Saturn, Booker T, Sting, Raven, The Giant....and many, many more but my favorite was Bill Goldberg. Great entertainment.

I never got back into wrestling after they sold out to McMahon. No interest whatsoever now.

Bill Goldberg was my favourite to when i was younger watching it. I think for most people as you grow older you just automatically grow out of wrestling because you know its fake and it looses its entertainment factor.

I remember the days when Goldberg used to come out and spear people to hell and i used to get so excited. I probably havent watched wrestling now for a good 5 - 6 years.

Yup the WWE sucks now. I stopped watching after Eddie Guerrero passed away. He was the only entertaining wrestler left. Now they have a bunch of lame ass wrestlers with crappy names.
