Has Anyone Just Got Up and Moved

I'm single, live in OH. Nothing good has ever happened here. My brother lives in Chicago- I love it there- its just vibrant- a lot going on, a lot of jobs compared to here. I despise my job, don't have family here. I'm sick of it here. I just want to get up and move- has anyone ever done this- who just said fuck it, and one day just relocate to a different part of the country, w/o a job lined up. Is it scary? Or 'exciting' type of scared? I'm really contemplating it- I have saved some money- I figured I could live with my bro for a few months.

Yes, I moved from Minnesota to Boston under similar conditions. It wasn't easy at first but it all worked out in the end.

Then I moved from Boston to Europe - but I did have a job lined up beforehand.

I did pretty much the same thing, but moved from the US to the NL. The job part was difficult, but it all worked out in the end I think!

I lived in the south east of the Netherlands until I was 18 when a friend I knew from school said the company I'm now working for was looking for someone. I got the job after just one interview and I just packed my stuff and moved to the north (Friesland). My friend was the only one I knew in Friesland but I made other friends very quickly. I've lived in Friesland now for 3 yrs and have never regretted it.

Moving somewhere you're not sure about, and getting laid a lot by walking masterpieces takes your mind off everything else.

Sorta like moving to germany for the beer. The economy might not've been good even before this global financial disaster.. but who really cares when the brew is so fucking awesome, sometimes?

I have been thinking about the same thing lately but the places I want to move I dont really know anyone there and it would be hard to just get up and move without having a job or place to stay.. If I were you I would just move.. At least you have your brother so you will have a place to stay while your job hunting

In my late 20's I'd had enough of snow and overcast skies for 9 months out of the year in western New York next to Lake Erie. That Easter I told the family I was moving to Phoenix Arizona after the summer. I worked 2 jobs that summer, got paid under the table at both places. I bought an old pick-up truck for $500 and drove across the USA. I got here on a Saturday and had a job that Wednesday. Best thing I ever did.
