im a bit disapointed, no spoilers but it should have been alot better considering its the last one ever.

have you read all the books? if it follows the actual book then it should be good. if they cut too much out then of course it will be disappointing.

books are always better than the movie. so much just cannot be replicated to film. its purely impossible.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

I heard that the best part of the movie occurred before the movie started.

yeah well, why bother seeing something you dont like then?

like, you wont find me at more stupid batman movies.

I didn't bother to go see it. Followed your advice years ago after the 1st Harry Potter movie, which was terrible, & haven't seen the rest. Haven't read the books either, because they are significantly below my grade level.:surprise:

My first post was just stating what I've heard over & over again.

the thing with this series, books or movies, is that it progresses.

sure, the first one is all about being a little kid and the wonderment of all the child-like emotions about finding out about this whole new hidden world and harry finding a place for the first time in his life. so yeah, its a bit childish. but in an innocent kid-like sort of way.

the second one, remains childish but starts integrating some seriousness. fast forward each story and they become increasingly more adult. by the time the 5th, 6th, and 7th come around, they are dealing with very adult themes, love, death, frustrations, hate, fear, its not like back in the day.

the writing also matures quite dramatically so, in all, yeah, it starts off for kids then ends for adults. its quite unique that way.

maybe im unusual but i feel like a kid 90% of the time still so i really enjoyed tapping into that childlike wonderment. that was one of the biggest gifts of the series.

The battle cry of HP apologists. I'm not hating on the franchise whatsoever, but don't try and tell me love, death, frustrations, hate and fear are adult themes. Every kid in the world knows what those are. The Land Before Time must be for adults because some dinosaurs died and they're frustrated on their way to the Great Valley. Cmon man.

There's no shame in enjoying kids movies, but don't try justifying it with some bull "adult theme" nonsense.

hmm. if you havent read them, you dont really see the transformations. im not really able to explain it but its there. im not that great of a writer so bear with me. but, when you compare the first book with the last couple of books, they are outrageously different. the diction is different, the vocabulary is different. the themes are just darker. very much darker. and i disagree, kids (depending on your definition), will not fully understand the full force of the adult themes. the first one IS a kids book. is very very simple. i agree with that. and the second one too. the 3rd is the transition to adulthood.

yeah, a kid will understand, hey so-and-so died, that sucks, but an adult looks at every little thing differently. adults complicate things where a kid doesnt necessarily, at least, not to the same degree. kids are simple, innocent creatures.

unlike the land before time, (what is there like 20 of them now btw ;)) the deaths aren't as sugar coated. the reaction of lets say ( SPOILER!!!!!!!!! ) harry over sirus' death was an immediate pull of revenge out of the hurt. when he did the cruciatis curse on sirus' murderer, it was one of the most incredible most touching things ive read. i mean, think about it, harry had a family for the first time in his life, and boom, gone. and after all the bullshit he had to go through for them to be together. and how unloved he was at the durslys. its quite sad really. family was waved in front of his face then ripped away just like that. imagine how he would have felt.

honestly, im not seeing a kid FULLY understand these things, even little things like that. i mean, lets face it, we can understand movies as kids, but when you go back and watch some of em as an adult, you see the whole things different, at least i sure as hell do.

just saying.

ive never read any HP forums or clubs or anything, for us over at my house, my wife and i were both extremely touched by the stories, we read books first and then movies. to be able to explain how much they effected us is impossible and im really happy to have given it a chance, since, at first, i thought it was kid bullshit. boy, was i completely blown away.

saw it today. siiiiiigh. its over. and im so sad.

a lot was left out. those who havent read the books will be missing out on a ton of goodies.

i was worried that they would harp on the deaths and drag on with the sadness but they didnt do it as much as i thought they would. the book carries so much more emotions. man, a lot of people were crying in that theater. my girl was crying, my sister too. even these old ladies in front of us.

all in all, good movie.

i didnt get that much emotion from it, mainly bci stopped reading the books after the half-blood prince

oh man, then You Missed out. deathly hallows really does wrap it up. everything you would have read all makes perfect sense with so many surprises. i dont want to spoil it. ;)

they did a lot different than in the book though.

was it longer? I thought there could have been more spells powers instead of them flying around

oh the whole battle at hogwarts its very much more detailed. the movie showed a tiny condensed version.

btw, they dont fly around in the books.

The final book IS really making up for some parts in the books along the way that were not as 100%.

And the finale, the unwrapping of the genius plan of Dumbledore etc...

So very worth the read... I will eventually watch the movie, too
