Greg Gutfeld: Why Does Fox News Give Him Such A Monster Push?

One of the most unfunny people out there. He tells a joke, rapes the panel with his eyes laughing at his own joke, then the other 4 laugh when LAUGH gets put on the teleprompter. I think he stays employed because he's controllable and not a loose cannon in the slightest. Don't care about his politics one way or the other but I can't stand bad comics.

He just gets it, doesn't he?

Fox News actually tries to make Gutfeld some kind of "right-wing Jon Stewart"

I think he's their answer to Bill Maher, another guy who I don't think is funny. Dennis Miller stinks too. Comedians who go for applause instead of laughs need to solve their identity crisis.

If you wanted laughs on Fox News, why the fuck did they drop Glenn Beck? He is funnier than Greg Gutfeld & Dennis Miller combined!!!

I like Dennis Miller's obscure references. He was a hoot on Monday Night Football.

Dennis Miller Reference Generator

"Meriweather Lewis makes Rick Astley look like Agamemnon."

I saw Dennis Miller at a comedy show years ago. The dude was way too cool for his own good. After the show, for several days, I contemplated becoming a serial killer... who would focus on murdering every pseudo-intellectual I could find.

I don't know who this Gutfeld guy is. Never heard of him. What is he, some kinda hack reject from The Comedy Store? The funniest thing I ever saw on Fox News was Sarah P@lin trying to explain some sort of economic theory that she, herself, didn't understand. That was a hoot. I also get a kick out of watching Wayne "Trapper John" Rogers and Victoria "I don't work because taxes are too high - not because no one will pay me to be a ditz anymore" Jackson. IMO, the funniest people are the ones who don't mean to be funny - they just naturally are.

Liberals tend to try and destroy the careers of anyone who comes out as a non-liberal, especially if they are the type who likes to bash liberals.

Liberals have a massive fixation on FOX news and they've been attacking that station non-stop for years. Thus, anyone who is willing to work for FOX has no shot at a career anywhere else in the media due to liberals ostracizing non-liberals.

That means FOX news has a very small talent pool to choose from. Gutfeld used to be a Maxim editor so I think he focuses on quantity of jokes rather than quality.

Miller is a hack who needed a job. He is happy for the regular paycheck.

If liberals weren't so vindictive and obsessed with locking out anyone who disagrees with them, you might see funnier people on FOX or other media outlets not controlled by them.

I know if I was a comedian I'd never want to work for FOX, because that means I would have no shot of working for anyone else other than Clear Channel.

Is that what happened to Victoria Jackson's *cough cough* career? :D

I thought it had more to do with her not doing a good enough job blowing Lorne Michaels to keep her lame, one-trick-pony gig on SNL. :dunno:

I always thought her dumb act was just an act until I saw her try to be taken seriously. Still thought it was an act even then.

Scary, isn't it? It's hard to believe that a person could really be that goofy and make it through life when they have to remind themselves to breathe. But yeah, that's all her... claiming that she doesn't work anymore only because taxes are too high. Puuulease!

Andy Kaufman was so good at doing characters that a lot of people (myself included) sometimes couldn't tell when he was doing a bit and when he was being for real. But this dizzy bitch is just being herself. If she could act that well, she'd have a mantel full of Academy Awards by now.

I'm going to have to try to catch this Gutfeld character. I have no idea who is he. What time is he usually on?

Gutfeld is the moderator on Red Eye(midnight west coast time) and on the panel of The Five. He also gets appearances on many other shows on the network. He must have pictures of Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdock 69ing each other with Dick Morris encouraging them in the background smoking crack with his boobs popped out.

When Branson, Missouri won't return your calls you've been fired from show business. Think Kenny Rogers occasionally picks up a few shifts at his own Chicken place. Victoria Jackson has been done for some time. What was her best job after SNL?

Without getting into the issue of whether Gutfeld is funny or not -- to each their own -- I'll actually address the question posed in the thread title.

The answer: Because his political commentary is sharp, believe it or not. I find that Gutfeld often conveys his opinions in an effective, sharply satirical fashion, using metaphor to great effect. Agree with him or not, the man knows how to make a point and drive it home in way that infuriates liberals. Dennis Miller often can't articulate his points of view because 1) he hasn't thought them through or 2) because no one can figures out what he's talking about. Gutfeld slices to the point with simple (perhaps too simple at times) relevant analogies, making an opposing point of view seem ridiculous. You don't have to agree with his views. You don't have to laugh at his jokes. But consider that FoxNews not only gave him "Red Eye," but built the increasingly popular "The Five" talk show around him (and he has written a few books besides). So despite his often sophomoric, raunchy schtick, there is substance there. That's why Fox has given him such a "monster push." Whether Gutfeld is funny or not on Red Eye isn't the point (although his myriad guests often are). Espousing conservative views without coming across as some pompous, stuffy William F. Buckley Jr. type IS the point. Liberals have been poking fun of conservatives for DECADES in the mainstream. For the last several years, hidden in a late time slot (especially in the East), there is a show where conservatives do the poking ... and IMO it's funny shit. :2 cents:

A CD/TV who enjoys a FOX News production enough to write thoughtful analysis on a hostile thread. Interesting.

Whether we agree or not that was a good post. Best defense I've ever seen for Gutfeld. I don't think Greg coulda protected himself that good.

A "my hatred for him has no bounds" bump.

Only reason he has a job is because he's that obedient. Nice and safe not about to ruffle the wrong feathers.

George Carlin hates you too. You're no good if you have to look both ways before telling a joke.

Bombs way more than he kills.
