Green Latern First Trailer

You and about a billion other people.

I assume you saw the fan trailer?

I was quite impressed with that.

Actually I did see that and loved it but I think with an original script he'd do even better. He has the right look and I think believability as a possible leader of the Justice League.

I agree with some of the comments on that trailer. "It's a shame that the fan made trailer looks better than the official one."

As a trailer, I'm neither overwhelmed nor underwhelmed. Kinda whelmed?

As a concept, I'm liking this. Instead of the darkness and earnest realism aimed for in Nolan's Batman films (brilliant they may be) or Superman's tepid return, GL seems to be going for a diverse cast, galaxy-spanning story and a hero who's a bit more of an everyman. Of course, the cast might fall flat on their CG faces, the story may be flaccid if it exists at all and the hero may be trying too hard to be Tony Stark.

I'm not chomping at the bit to see this, but I have to admit, as lackluster as some of the trailer's bits seem, there's enough to give me a sliver of hope that this will not disappoint.

I'm of the mind that the Green Lantern as a comic book concept is just something that can't translate well into a movie myself. DC has seems to have a lot of problems with that with a good amount of their characters.

On another note, I'll have to wait and see the movie but I still think [nobabe]Ryan[/nobabe] Reynolds is wrong for Hal Jordan.

Outside of it becoming irritating seeing the same actors constantly being cast in comic book movies (hey there Chris Evans), I'm not too worried about Reynolds. Hal's been written as a cocky, egocentric, overconfident ladies man for a number of years now. So I'm pretty sure he can pull that off. The fanboy question would be can Ryan also be the Hal Jordan that is the strong willed, fair minded person who truly wants to do the right thing and "do his part" for the world?

:hatsoff:

You know what I hate about this trailer?

The fact that that actor was supposed to be DeadPoll damnit!!!! Other than that, I liked it, it looks promising :)

Well, Deadpool and Green Lantern will never ever appear in the same movie so I think he's good.

I suppose there is that. Good point roronoa3000!

Oh, he's still scheduled to play Deadpool somewhere down the line.

Marvel and DC universe characters are covered as far as Reynolds goes. So watch out Image!

Evans has shot his wad all over Marvel, and has yet to take the DC plunge, but you know ... Aquaman is still available.

Awesome sauce, that's good news! I honestly think he has what it takes to pull it off, after watching him on that last X-men movie. :)

I think Ryan will do a good job as the Green Lantern.
