i have, what i think, is a great idea, or at least something i wish exsisted (if it already does, someone please let me know)
it would be this-
a company (most likely online) that can compile a custom dvd with your favorite porn scenes, much like a costomized mix cd. you could pick what YOU want, in the order YOU want it, from a vast, vast online library, and have it custom made and shipped to you. i mean, how many times have you wished you could re-locate a scene you used to have and love, AND have it paired up with 5 or 6 other scenes you wished you had and that you want to watch. unlike a regular dvd , where you have to skip past the scenes you dont give a damn about
is this not a great idea? i bet it will be possible in the near future.
i remember thinking about 7-10 years ago how cool it would be someday to be able to pick the songs you wanted on your very own personal mix cd.
any thoughts on this?

nice idea, but too many copyright issues especially now with the DMCA and all the studios wouldn't wanna make mincemeat of all their videos---would slow the sales on some of their dvd's.

Well, it could happen but there's no way the scenes could be from different studios. One-studio compilations shouldn't be a big legal issue.
On the other hand though, since the market is literally flooded with new stuff, I doubt there will be demand for a project like that. Nice idea though.

im sharing this idea online, because i WANT someone to steal it and make it work! but i realize it wouldnt work, realistically.
im extremely computer illiterate, but is there a way to download a scene from the computer and burn it onto a dvd? make a compilation that way?

People have been making custom DVDs from file-shared clips for a long time now, just the same way they're doing with mp3s and burned audio CDs.

I had the same wish like yours before Larry since there were dvd/tapes where I would like to skip scenes so I could jerk off to as many of my fave stars as possible from various dvd's or scenes or diff. production companies and wish I could arrange them one scene after another but realized the same thing (copyright issues) so I agree with nightfly just custom make your own the way nightfly mentioned (like mp3 or burned cds/dvd)

For personal use there's Virtual Dub. It's been discussed somewhere on the board. Easy to use program for cutting, editing, joining and especially re-sizing clips.
