Great anime movies

Never watched ant anime, dont get its appeal

I think people tend to avoid it because they're cartoons, but if you open yourself up to it, you'll find that it is a very enjoyable experience. My first movie was Ninja Scroll. If you don't like that, there's no hope for you.

Is there a good place to look up "old school" anime..say from the early/mid 1990's? I remember Sci Fi Channel used to run Anime on Saturday mornings..at 9am. They would show a feature film like "Akira" and "Vampire Hunter" -- 2 films I really liked way back then. I wouldn't mind checking out anime from this period. I've forgotten most of the titles.

Going way back...is "Robotech" considered to be Anime?

I've been thinking of the same. I remember a couple of old movies/series, and I'd really like to find them again, if just to figure out what their titles are and see how much I can remember of them.

I've never been the biggest fan of anime, but I've always had a bit of interest in it and would like to watch it more than I've done in many years.

Another movie that I haven't seen mentioned here, but that i really like is Twilight of the Dark Master. I saw the last 10 mins of that movie on Showtime. I never got the title and spent who knows how long trying to get the name of it.

I primarily want movies, but I'll settle for series if it's really good. What do you guys think of the Berserker series?

Berserker was okay. worth watching.
another poster said neon genesis. also good, but i felt it drew too much from so many other classics.

guyver series is good, all on two dvd's.

I saw Fists of the North Star and while it is the kind of action i'm looking for, the story left much to be desired. Plus, the animation was just okay.

well it was made back in the early 80's...... so that's probably why you got turned off by the animation style...... i saw the movie back when that particular style of anime was still considered good so i loved it...... but anways.....
try the YuYu Hakusho movie..... i thought it was pretty good.... the
serries was good too.....
also try Armitage: Poly Matrix and Duo Matrix......
and in my opinion Death Note was a hell of a serries.......

ChefChiTown

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
I have a question...

I know that it's not technically an "anime" movie, but it's all CGI...is Final Fantasy: Advent Children worth a rent?

I read about Death Note and it is a great concept, but I haven't gotten around to watch the anime. I saw the live-action movie and that wasn't very good.

You'd appreciate the movie more if you played the game final fantasy 7.

@OP -There are a lot of good suggestions here, ninja scroll is definitely a good anime.

If you're interested in series I suggest you take a look at Death Note, Naruto, Bleach, samurai 7, I'll try to think of more titles. :D
