Two gunmen 'carrying explosives' attack anti-Muslim art contest in Texas: Suspects dead and security guard wounded at 'draw Muhammad' event that offered $10k prize.

Two heavily armed suspects believed to be carrying explosives have been shot dead after opening fire outside an anti-Muslim art exhibition in Dallas.

The pair were gunned down after shooting a security guard in the ankle outside the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, during the controversial event where caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad were being displayed.

Maybe that is a new strategy that could pay off: Make lots of events with these kind of pictures and kill all the muslims that show up armed for an assault.

Too much effort. Just publicize that a Draw Mohammed event is going to happen and just have a SWAT team wait just inside the doors. I wouldn't endanger the good people exercising their God given rights by putting them in the crossfire. The ultimate sting operation.

It proves how much Republicans are wrong when they pretend DAESH sympathisers are crossing the mexican border to enter the US. DAESH do not sends people to come into western countries : they manipulate western muslims, get their sympathies and convince them to act from inside.

I wouldn't have been there considering that Al-Qaida put Geert Wilders on their hit list. I wouldn't want to be anywhere that guy. Fuck that

I will probably catch some heat for this but I think although it is Texas and they were prepared for a reaction like this to happen that there is something fundamentally wrong with a cartoon drawing contest insulting a whole religion. I also find it a little difficult to be as outraged of the Muslims that were attacking the event as I would be an actual random or planned terrorist attack.

I am not a supporter of Islam or believe in its teachings, but that whole contest stinks to high heaven.

The stupidity of the lunatics who attempted to attack the "contest" is outdone perhaps only by the "mo-rons" (as we say here in the Lone Star State) who staged the event. Some of the mindless elements that are at work in this state absolutely make me shake my head in disbelief.

I totally agree. The problem is that there are no values anymore; being offensive and entitled is this era main sport: you can tell your parents to fuck off, make fun and hit your teachers, bully your school mates and nobody can touch you back. It's no surprise that also religion is made fun of. Treat your kids as such and not as adults and teach them respect for things and for the next. It's not just about spanking of course, but a couple of spanks now may avoid stupid blasphemy "art" exhibitions and even stupider guns reactions to that tomorrow. It's almost never in the genes. It's in the education. I dream of a law which brutally fines those parents who believe that education is not their duty and let their kids grow up like beasts blaming anybody else but them about the outcome. Last weekend i was in a disco and it was packed with underage teens drinking and smoking weed, dressed like i do for my gangbangs, until 5am when many started vomiting in and outside the disco, being loud like motherfuckers, pushing each others against people and things...i don't wish bad to anybody, but i swear i was hoping a bit of blood would start flowing just to follow them by the police, wait for the parents and spit in their faces. What the fuck is your 15yo kid doing dressed like a slut and full of booze and weed at 5 am on the streets or disco? Whose fault is if she gets raped? Whose fault is if he becomes a junkie? Whose fault is if they become blasphemous and violent? How else will they grow their children if not more savage?

Well Rep Ted Cruz has been looking into the myth that DC is planning to overtake the state of Texas (My eyes can't roll enough to express how ridiculous this really is!) so perhaps when the national guard and the marines are in the process of taking your guns and bibles there will be an uprising and the texans will finally win one and defeat the entire US military with their hand guns.

I think the focus of disdain should be on the shooters but what were those goofy motherfuckers down there thinking? Would they like a "Best Cartoon Of Jesus Taking It Up The Ass" contest? Be interesting to test their tolerance of free speech for consistency.

Donald Trump was on Fox News this morning to discuss the Texas shooting outside a “Draw Mohammed” cartoon contest, and asked why people would want to “taunt” Muslims like that.

Trump repeatedly called the shooting “terrible” and “disgusting,” but said of Pamela Geller, “It looked like she’s just taunting everybody. What is she doing drawing Mohammed?… Isn’t there something else they can draw?”

Geller has been defending the event as a big free speech issue ever since the shooting last night, but Trump just asked why they can’t express themselves in a different way. He remarked, “I’m one who believes in free speech probably more than she does.”

Trump concluded, “What the hell is she doing and what is the purpose of it?”

I actually with Trump on this. The organizers of the event had every right to do what they did but they didn't have to be dicks about it. There are better ways to bring attention to the threat of Islam

Free speech is great and all, but why can't you express your FREE SPEECH in a different way so as not to offend someone and invite a deadly response?

What this group was doing with their cartoon contest shouldn't even be on the scope of relevancy compared to the would-be mass murderers.

Why is anyone even bringing this up? We're talking about a FUCKING CARTOON of some bearded asshole who lived centuries ago and had sex with 10-year-olds.
Offended? I'm offended that anyone would be OFFENDED by this.

This anti-islamic/sharia group was out to prove a point and it looks like they did just that.

God have given this commandment to the people and those who do not follow it will surely perish.

Well, obviously you can say whatever you wish. Nobody from the idiot hate group that staged this insipid and pointless contest was arrested. However, just because you have "free speech" doesn't mean there aren't potential ramifications for said same. I'm not at all defending the actions of the lunatics that attempted to inflict serious harm in this instance and I'm glad that the heroic (yes, folks, there are some) police officer did what he had to in order to avoid major bloodshed. However, in my experience, if you rattle the cage, the gorilla comes out. No one should be surprised by this unfortunate series of events that could have been a lot worse than they were. Seriously, people, you really get you jollies from this kind of shit? I mean, to what end are you engaging in such activities?

This is america. When you rattle the cage there's not supposed to be a "gorilla" that storms into your office and executes you.

When that idiot artist submerged a crucifix in a jar of urine he didn't feel the need to hire off-duty police officers for security.

That should tell you all you need to know about the religion of peace.

I'm just going to repeat what I've said elsewhere here. One of the reasons I left the left is they are fucking pussies and inconsistent when it comes to religious fundamentalism they are always railing on about.

The quran/sharia is christian fundamentalism that you all fear and loathe but exponentially worse. Don't believe me? Burn a bible or a koran.

But the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Ahhh....but that sword cuts both ways, my west coast friend. People who are offended by what you may have to say have a right to respond in kind (although, admittedly, not in this fashion whatsoever). Just like you're not allowed the right to yell "fire!" in a crowded theater, I think you need to be aware of the potential consequences of what you say and how you say it.....that's all I am am stating. I do not defend the actions of the perps who were killed (and rightfully so) in any manner but this hate group (and that's exactly what they are) invited this type of response by their idiotic and, in the eyes of the Muslims (whether you like it or not), actions. Just really dumb....that's what I'm saying.

would you call charlie hebdo a hate group or that guy from the netherlands who had his throat slit and hate mail knifed to his chest for offending islam? Do you not get it? You're going to equate yelling "fire" in a theater with what this group in texas did? Speaking out against a religion is akin to shouting "fire" in a theater? Really? In America? Fuck. that.

They were being provocative to prove a point and it was proven.
