What do you believe, Jack? Do you think the planet isn't changing?

xfire, I never have believed in the global warming charade. The earth takes care of itself. All this nonsense about carbon imprints... bullshit!

Think about it.. Al Gore and his other buddies fly around in their fuel guzzling private jets and drive around in their gas guzzling Escalades, and living in twenty room mansions with heated swimming pools, etc. Yet he has the nerve to tell everyone else to cut back? Fuck him and his scheme.

I believe in global warming. Is it a problem the size they make of it? Hell no. Are we reponsible for it? Partly yes. Should we do something about it? We can give it a try but it won't make any difference.

I'll explain myself a bit.
Yes, the globe is warming. We can measure that and indeed temperature globally is rising. It would be stupid to deny that. Is it a problem? It is, one way or another, some species might die. Is it a hugh problem? No it's not. Reason: we are only measuring temperature since 1830 and since then it never has been globally warmer then now. Scientology however can see on rocks for example that the earth has been warmer millions of years ago. And then there is also the fact that we are going to a new ice age, so this warming is just a temporary thing.
We are partly responsible however, we speed up things by small particles we blow in the air, by gasses and so on. But problem there is, we can't change it because it's our economy. So the ideal sollution would be to decrease the amount of people on the planet. Question then is, how are we going to do that? We're at 7 billion now and the prognoses are that we will be with 10 billion by 2050. So what can we do? We can, each personally, try to avoid to speed up the warming process, but it won't work, unless every single one of us is responsible enough to participate. I am already, daily... Now only the rest will have to follow.

Ok Jack. I am with you on this one. Don't let me down.

Excellent analysis, Mr. O'Malley.

I think it's wrong-minded to make climate change a divisive political issue. I don't consider myself a conservative, but I most definitely am a conservationist.

Do I believe in Global warming, well yeah the planetary cycles do change. Now are we speeding it along?? Well i'm sure we aren't doing much help in slowing it down but I feel the bigger issue that needs to be resolved first is getting the air we breath cleaner and i'm sure that will help in us putting out less CO2 and other greenhouse gases into the air!

Now if we can only stop the damn cows from farting so much!

Eighty days of triple digit heat with no rain this summer in East Texas. Hottest summer on record. Yeah, we don't see the pattern here. The arctic ice shelf keeps shrinking. Yeah, no pattern there, either. Climate change is something you should have learned about in third grade. Not sure what your beef is, exactly, Jack.

The data is inconclusive. Could there be contributing factors by humans? Yes. But solar cycles should also be considered. Also the fact that solid temperature data can only go back a hundred years or so is bothersome. I am talking documented measurements and readings. So far, there is not enough of a significant change to warrant that something drastic is happening and that we are the cause of it. For every high temperature record or low temperature record breaking day, there are days on record that are hotter or colder and are recorded quite a few years ago.

Basically there are millions of years of data that we will never have access to, and then there is the whole issue of those emails.

Is there any question in your mind that pollution levels in the last 100 years have skyrocketed?

There are other forms of pollution throughout history. Think about all those thousands of years that man wasn't even able to rid their towns of human waste in a sanitary fashion.

Yeah, poop and piss used to flow through the streets, of that there's no doubt, and disease was rampant as a result. Society learned how to dispose of their piss and poop in a sanitary fashion. What should we do with the various and sundry toxic pollutants that we haven't learned to dispose of safely and what effects are they having on the air we breathe and water we drink? I can't drink the tap water where I live.

Climate change is something you should have learned about in third grade.

'Fraid not. When I was in third grade, the year was 1963. Climate Change / Global Warming were not even words at that time. Nobody, including you will ever convince me that global warming is fact.
