Gifting refurbished electronics.

Offensive? Would you care? Are certain people restricted from receiving refurbished gifts?

If I found a great deal on a refurbished item, I'd buy it in.a heart beat. I also wouldnt care if someone saved some cash and got me a refurbished camera or something. It's the thought, amirite?

Discuss.

I don't see what's wrong with that. A gift is a gift.

I've pitched in with my ****** to buy my ****** a used camera & video recorder since she had a new baby.
As long as it's not broken or isn't something that's visibly super worn or whatever, I don't see the problem. It's a nice way to give something bigger than you might've been able to afford other wise.

I don't see anything wrong with it. In fact, I bought a 37" HDTV for a little over $200 online for a Christmas gift that was refurbished. That's a hell of a deal seeing as brand new ones at stores like Best Buy are at least $50 more for the cheapest ones and up to hundreds of dollars more for others.

And I wouldn't care if someone got me something that isn't brand new. My *** is always broke and for the past couple years for my birthday and Christmas, she's been giving me stuff she found around the house or got at thrift stores. It's the thought that counts. Even if I don't like it, I take it with a smile and will keep it forever knowing that she won't be around forever.

PS. Only a wealthy prissy princess b***h would get all uppity about a refurbished gift.

I bought my Uncle an ancient computer from the 70's because it's the same one I "accidentally" destroyed with a shotgun 20 years ago.

Fuck that ****. I buy my computers refurbished. I bought my television refurbished. If it's good enough for me, it's good enough for you.

If I give you a gift of electronics, and you say, "I'm sorry, I can't accept this. It is refurbished." I'm pretty sure I'm going to slap you in the head with an IED.

Right? I'd say, "Fine, screw you, I'll keep it myself then."

Accidentally, huh? :suspicious: Now this is a story that I think I'd really like to hear.

As for gifting a refurbed item, I don't see anything at all wrong with doing that. I guess there are different levels of refurbishment, but I know Apple sells refurbed items that are just as good as the new, off-the-shelf items - maybe even better, since they go through pretty rigorous tests before they're put back on the shelf. As long as it looks good and works well, I don't see why anybody (reasonable) would be upset by that.

Plus, if there is some kind of connection or history with it, it means that much more.

People who would pull that **** wouldn't really appreciate a gift anyway, as they think you "should" get them something, as if you were their devotee or something. People like that find out eventually just how well liked they aren't.
