George Carlin: America was founded on a double standard

Since U.S. history tends to be sugarcoated, whitewashed, romanticized and Eurocentric, parents should demand that clips of George Carlin's social commentary be included in the curriculum so children really learn the facts instead of being bored, dumbed down and turned off by education :)

All i'm gonna say is to cannonize carlin is a be careful what you wish for moment. He says alot of things, to be funny.... Not to "change the world for the better", but if you need to believe that so be it

Often the best humor has a kernel of truth to it, if not more.

Thanks for a great thread, I forgot for a moment how great Carlin was with his material.

 Carlin kicks ass. Thank you for reminding me. Is it sad before this started playing I could already hear his voice and some of his jokes were playing in my head.

I agree. The basis of all great humor is truth. Quoting Al Capone in The Untouchables, "We laugh because it's funny and we laugh because it's true"

I loved Carlin's diatribe in his last standup on HBO about the PC and "self esteem" mvements... classic.
