Gears of War 3

I usually used the regular Lancer and Longshot when it was just me. Whenever I played it co-op I used the Hammerbust and a torque bow or boomshot.

many examples: how was the locust queen a human (or human looking) and how did the locust get down there in the first place? what was the deal with the sires in the second game? and why were the locust capturing prisoners just to lobotimize them? and that's just some of the issues with the second game. in the 3rd, why did they rush the lambent presence? like all of a sudden they were there. and how did they get that ship? there was no mention of a navy in the second or first game. the island where his dad lived could have been elaborated on i felt. what about that french resistance chick and the rest of the stranded? and for that matter the whole ice cube's character part of the story? it was all way too short. like butter spread over too much bread.

I take it to be the locust Queen was human. She and Adam Fenix seem to have some pre-existing link and knowledge of the horde at least 5 years before the actual E-Day. Remember, Adam says he tried to convince her and them to wait til he could perfect the countermeasure - But desperation on their part forced the invasion into the human land above. My guess? She saw the potential to either seize control through a misguided endeavour to save them or her constant referral to "We have right to this planet" she might well be one of them but her physical form (albeit perhaps a little to sexy for a locust lady) she has a royal stature of queen rather than biological like ants or bees.

This isn't earth so its not the same situation for us where man has total dominion. The horde were just a subterranean civilization that evolved possibly as an off shoot from perhaps their version of a prehistoric era, they have reptile like qualities and as wide a variety of species as humans. Ying and Yang?

I dont believe the locust were intentionally lobotomizing their victims, in the case of Maria she had been down there a long time. Look at Tai, he was only seperated from the group for a few hours and whatever they did to him drove him to blowing his head off. The sires start to make sense as the game progresses and Azura is explained. I have to question Adams involvement there, but it shows that the lambent locust were around and being experimented on - In fact maybe that was the beginning of what started Adams quest underground?

There doesnt need to have been reference to a navy, we only see every see the king ravens, does that mean its the extent or their air force? As the land would fall, airbases with runways and the logistics of building and arming fighters goes out the window. Ravens carry rockets and guns for hitting stationary targets, fighters would be pretty redundant in a war like that. Unless you count things like the corpsers. This war is world wide, we dont know the shape of the navy after the pendulum wars or how its being applied. The locust are hitting the land, the navy might well be deliberately sat in the relative safety of the ocean, they cant do much good. We do know they have a navy of some sort given the way they can evacuate Jacinto quickly.

Overall we are asking to much from a game. Let the game tell the story in front of her us, the parts we can affect and control the outcome of. There is a great series of books out there that explain more of the canon that games are built on. Read Aspho Fields - Its explains the reason why Marcus and Dom are so close, they are friends long before the war and gives some interesting background to the pendulum war and development of things like the hammer of dawn.

I plan to read the rest when they are released, but it would be great to see where they go from the ending of the game.

I'm replaying the campaign, trying to find all of the collectables and get one of the secret achievements. I would say the name but that would probably spoil it. I'm near the part where you have to snipe the guards, and that part is going to be tricky by myself.

I would also have liked to have seen some larger battlefields similarly to the ones seen in Halo, some of the long range weapons seemed useless as the enemy was often right besides you. I would also have like to have seen a breed of locusts that were more intelligent human like and could help explain how the locust developed such complicated and advanced weaponry, I can't imagine any of the current breeds being smart enough to develop anything and there wasn't even any Locust factories from what I can recall. I've got the official guide but never use it on my first playthrough, I'll use it the second time I start the campaign and try to cellect all the collectibles and cog tags etc

I'm still trying to figure out why the Locust queen is human.

I thought it might have something to do with some of the stuff found at New Hope Research Station in Gears 2. Like the journal or chart of some chick test subject and when they found those marks on the wall in the camp part (it was a collectible) and he said "somebody spent a lot of time locked in here" (something like that).

I read those books, they were a good read with some interesting background and if you like the Gears universe you'll enjoy them.

I nearly forgot what I wanted to ask, .. has any one played the DLC "Raams Shadow"? I'm playing Gears 3 to finish up some achievements and was wondering if it was any good. I caught a couple of reviews online, but was wondering if you guys had some feedback.

I bought Raam's Shadow or rather acquired it since I have the Season Pass. I think it's a nice prequel to Gears 1, that takes the focus off of Fenix's squad and shows you another squad (Zeta) for a change. If you enjoy the story line of Gears then I think you'll like it. I hope they make more single player content. I liked using the Kryll as General Raam to attack the COG.

Most times I prefer Single Player, so that sounds good to me and using the Kryll will be interesting.
Thanks for the info, DW. :hatsoff: I'll have to download it and give it a go.

In my last time playing I found all COG Tags and all of the collectables. I also did the secret achievement as well. I'm finally level 10 too.

Having a sexy party with Tarra White, Proxy Paige
Gears is so good! I'm almost rank 100 now, loved the 3 games. :)

I think I'm a 72. Raam's Shadow is pretty awesome so, kinda taking my time w/ it. New maps on the 17th I think plus "prestige" mode.

#SPOILER ALERT Just in case someone hasn't played it yet and are going to.

Yeah, Raams Shadow is pretty good. I enjoyed the return of the "E-holes" (except when I didn't have any/enough grenades :D) and the Hammer of Dawn Control Centre.

I just wish it was longer, but that's always the way with DLC's.

You guys have any favorite characters in M/P? I bounce around a bit I usually end up landing back on Hunter Elite and Hoffman.

No favourites, I usually just use Marcus or if I'm playing as a Locust, the Savage Drone. However I've been playing as Anya lately, I'm trying to get the Medals for using a female character. A few more matches and I'll have the silver "She-Devil" medal.

I forgot to mention, Tai Kaliso (26th RTI). Outside the main ones, he's my favourite character. I was pissed when they killed him off in Gears 2, but it was good to see him in "Raams Shadow".

^nice. I finally got around to trying beast the other day. It was actually quite fun.

Yeah, I didn't mind it, but the damn time-limit pisses me off. Especially when you get "hammered" with only one guy left to kill. :D

Are you doing it (beast) with less than 5 players? I've done it with 4 randoms who don't talk a few times and it's usually a total cakewalk. Also, being the Berserker = Holy fucking shit
