Gears of War 3

Sorry dude, my bad. I was just so stoked finding the first cog tag, ya know. I won't post any more spoilers from here on out.

Just finished the game here!

Lets give it a month before we start talking about plot and potential spoilers so others have time to catch up!

I must check this game out! My mate picked his copy up this afternoon and he's been telling me all day that it's possibly the best game he's played on the 360

Wow man, that was quick. I have only had a total of 3 and a half hours playing time, and I completed the first Act. How long did it take you to complete the game?

So far I have been downed 5 times, but haven't died yet. I'm longing whenever that is going to happen cause there are really big dudes that almost kill me, cause they only shoot at me.

Took me around 8 hours to play through, I started on normal strictly for the story - I didnt wanna wait to find out how it all ended.

The new horde is sweet, Ill spend more time on my next playthrough looking for collectibles!

I'm playing the game on normal as well. What took me so long to complete the first act was because I was looking for collectables as I was going through everything. I found 3 Cog tags and around 7-10 collectables, plus a special bonus item in the first act alone. I will not spoil the locations of these collectables. I already did for the first cog tag.

I'm trying to have this game last, as it it is the only game I have for the 360 right now, and trying to get collectables as I go, makes the game take a lot longer.

I'm going to try the game co-op with a buddy of mine on the weekend. We will probably try horde mode and beast mode. A bulk of playing will be co-op story mode though.

Just completed the first act, not to give anything major away but anyone notice in the stranded camp 4-5 of the women all looked exactly the same, would've thought they had different faces or at least hairstyles, I also hate that Retro Lance but got stuck with it. Think I've missed some of the collectibles or COG tags as all the other fuckers in the team keep running around and I can't concentrate

Thats cool, leave them be. The game won't progress without you going to certain sections of the board. I searched around for 15 min, with the other people saying, get a move on and everything. I didn't care. There are 19 collectables to get in the first act alone, the most out of any act. I got around 12 or so.

I'm playing this game by myself on my 360, and co-op on my buddies 360. With my buddy, we are at the very beginning of Act 3. I'm gonna try to get there or past that part on my 360.

Retro Lancer fucking sucks!! The Vulcan is beastly though. I got to act 3 last night. Probably finish it today. Same old Gears. I love it!

Think I just got to 5 last night, Retro Lancer really sucked and that is mainly what you get lying around, even the sniper rifle only holds 6 bullets, will try to get another 2-3 hours in later :)

Finally completed, quite a sad end in both the actual plot as well as the conclusion to the series. Don't know if it was just me but 2 seemed to have bigger battles and more enemies as well as locations, you was also running around in 4's so the others took out a lot of the enemies. That Ice-T character just seemed so out of place and his inclusion felt more a publicity stunt rather than an essential part of the plot.

i feel gears3 would have played better if it was the second one in the series instead of the 3rd, the way the environment was a clear difference. similiar to halo: ce and halo two. but unfortunatley they tied together 95 percent of the strings in a somewhat hurried, sloppy fashion, so much for the idea of having a good sequel in 4 years or so. so deciding to end the series, i pray they wont be a gears of war 3 odst....

Yes it did feel a bit rushed and I never liked the whole lambent/immulsion storyline and preferred the simpler humans vs locust, also a Locust queen never made any sense and no explanation was given as to how she came about. I got a Lord Of The Rings feel to the game at the beginning but can't remember why :dunno:

^^^it was probably the epic single bright light in the prologue. sort of like the last fight in the return of the king when they're in front of the gates.

the rest of the game definitly was effected by bulletstorm's environment. unfortunatly the first and second gears felt identical in style and environment. if the first gears was bulletstorm "1" and the real bulletstorm was #2 they'd have two bad ass series without them being kind of weak in places or feeling rushed.

many examples: how was the locust queen a human (or human looking) and how did the locust get down there in the first place? what was the deal with the sires in the second game? and why were the locust capturing prisoners just to lobotimize them? and that's just some of the issues with the second game. in the 3rd, why did they rush the lambent presence? like all of a sudden they were there. and how did they get that ship? there was no mention of a navy in the second or first game. the island where his dad lived could have been elaborated on i felt. what about that french resistance chick and the rest of the stranded? and for that matter the whole ice cube's character part of the story? it was all way too short. like butter spread over too much bread.

it felt like they missed a whole lot in various places. they probably had a gigantic storyline and edited it down to what we got. anywho, that's just my opinion.

this guy has his own opinion too but he's hilarious:

Um... Ice-T and Ice Cube are two different people. Just sayin'!

Uh... what did I come here to say? Oh yeah, seriously! Why the fuck is the Locust queen human?!!!!:wtf: I honestly thought they would explain by the end of Gears 3 but we got nothing!:wtf:

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
***spoiler alert!***

I'm still trying to figure out why the Locust queen is human.

maybe not, I gathered that from gears 2. The last I played of this series. Probably would have rented this one had my 360 decided not to quit last year, shortly after I quit playing gears 2 finally.
