Well, this is one of the most common snakes in the US, and there are a couple/few variations, but they're basically a yard & garden type snake. I think the large ones can eat mice, but for the most part, they're bug eaters. I was surprised in reading this thread that there were people who didn't know about them.

I've been bitten by many, and not once has it hurt. :) They don't get that big, and they don't have the large fangs that many other snakes have. Surprise is usually what gets me- not pain. Get nipped by them in the garden when I surprise them.

Beautiful snake in that picture. Most of the ones around me are simply black with yellow stripes. Love that red.

the ones over her in my part of ohio aren`t orange they`re more of a shit brown color
