Game ideas - feedback thread...

I thought it might be handy for people to get feedback for game ideas here, before they post them in an actual thread.
I know from bitter experience that some games work and some don't, so I want to avoid posting anymore 'Lame-duck' ideas.

Here are a few ideas I've been knocking about:

#1: 'Five Clue Music Quiz' - Similar to my movie quiz, but the subject is music (singer, album, band, etc..)

#2: Wiki Challenge - Post two completely different things (people, object, place..etc) and challenge the next person to get from one to the other, in the least number of links, using Wikipedia.
eg: Banana to President = Banana->Hawaiian->United States of America->President (This was my actual attempt)

#3: Movie plot quiz - give a outline to the plot of a movie and have people guess what the movie is (might be too similar to 'five-clue-movie-quiz')

#4: Missing Link - name two objects/people/places and ask people to guess what the link is (it could be more than two things - might make it easier)

We already have a game like this

I don't understand this game, please explain to me how it works:o

#'s 1, 2, and 4 seem to be the most challenging, tunsty. I like movie quizzes, but we've got so many floating around, I'm thinking it would get lost in the shuffle.

eg: The Jam - _______ - The Style Council

The missing link = Paul Weller

eg2: John Wilkes Booth - _________ - Theatre

The missing link = Abraham Lincoln

You can have more things to link together, but two gives it just the right amount of difficulty.

It's tricky to think up anything original..there are so many game threads, that there is always a chance of replicating somrthing.

what the fuck you lookin at?
yea, they all actually sound good!

Another few ideas to throw at you peeps..

Swap-game / Trader / Swap-Shop (I might use one of these titles...or not) I remember reading a story recently about a guy who started off with a paperclip and traded-up/swapped the paper-clip for something else (more valuable).
His idea was to eventually get to the point where he could get a house...and I'm pretty sure that he managed it!
Anyway, my idea is pretty much the same..I'll start the thread with something like a paper-clip and ask someone to suggest something that they might swap it for.
As long as the next item is considered more valuable, we'll see how far up the scale we can go...we might end up swapping planets or something!
You don't necessarily have to actually own whatever it is that you want to swap, indeed, no actual property will be swapped at all - it's all make-believe!!

Guess-the-object

I'll post a small section of a photo of an object and ask people to guess...then perhaps the next person could do the same (assuming they are handy with a photoshopping program...if not, I could continue posting more pics myself)

__ is the Letter
I can't claim credit for this one, I saw it on another forum.
The idea: I post ten simple questions each requiring a one or two word answer...and a letter of the alphabet.
The Catch: all ten answers MUST start with a letter that I have chosen.

eg
Letter 'A'

1: A boy's name - Alan
2: A girls name - Agatha
3: A country - America
4: An actor - Alan Rickman
5: An animal - Alligator
6: A rock band - AC/DC
7: A sci-fi film - Alien
8: A natural wonder - Aurora Borealis
9: A river - Amazon
10: An occupation - Actor
You get the idea...first person to post ten, then has to post their own.

Odd-one-out
I can't believe that we haven't had this one before...post a list of things/people/objects and guess which one shouldn't be there...and why!

Let me know what you all think and I'll start one or two of them going..

this one.

Football Pontoon

Would anyone be interested in a Football based pontoon game?

I have two ideas that I want to put forward:

1: Everyone picks a Football club and the numbers of goals scored in consecutive games is added up until you hit 21.
If you get more than 21 you are bust and start again from zero.

2: Everyone picks several teams and if the total number of goals added together from all the chosen teams, hits 21, that person wins (nothing!)

I'm not sure which way would be best.
Idea '1:' would seem the easiest, but it would take several games for anyone to get near 21 goals.

Idea '2' would be quicker, but It might take 7/8/9/10 etc, teams to get 21 goals..

I wonder if the board admin, might adopt the game as an official board game and offer some minor prizes for anyone who gets the magic '21' goals.. just a thought.
Any input would be welcome :hatsoff:

Just another game idea I'd like to put forward..

pretty much all of the games on the board are for individuals, so I thought it might be interesting to have a team based game.
My initial idea is that we have several teams (perhaps 3 or 4 members per team), each named as a colour, who pose a number of questions for the other teams.

ie: Red Team (maybe 3 people), asks, perhaps half a dozen questions to the other teams:

Blue team
Green team
Orange team
etc..

example:
Red team member 1: poses a couple of questions for each of the other teams to answer.
Red team member 2: as above
Red team member 3: as above

and here's the interesting bit, each question can have a different number of points attached to it depending on how difficult the question is deemed to be.
Once all the qustions are answered, then the next team asks some questions.
First team to reach a particular score, wins.

This is just a basic idea, which could maybe be improved and/or simplified.

Wow...

Haven't read this thread for a while.. and no wonder, my ideas are crap..

oh well, I have another idea for a game.. but I could do with some help..

My idea:
Using the babe-rankings top 100 http://www.freeones.com/baberank/?t=y&p=&c=&amin=&amax=&hc=0&cs=&ec=0&m=txt

idea 1) You pick a certain number of babes (let's say five) and their combined ranking positions, for the next day, have to add up to exactly.. say 100 (or any number, but 100 seems as good as any)
Of course you could pick 5 babes from todays list that add up too 100, but tomorrow their rankings might be different..

Idea 2) Again pick 5 babes, but this time you have to predict exactly each of their ranking positions for the next day.

like I say, these are just bare-bones ideas.. they seem good to me, but they might not work so well on the board..

any feedback welcome.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

*I'm waiting for some info from a moderator as to how often the babe-rankings are updated.. so I'm not 100% sure any of this is workable.

If anyone can work off these ideas and think of a similar game, I'd appreciate their help
