Fuck Notre Dame

Someone needs to refresh my memory on why the elite/blue chip high school players mostly stopped going to the blue, green and gold. Was it academics? I can't recall what it was but my friend - a big Notre Dame fan - told me a while back.

Everyone used to all want to go to Notre Dame just because of how prolific the school's football team always was back in the day.

ND had the No. 2 recruiting class in '08 and a top 10 class last season.:2 cents:

They do have very high academic standards - I can tell you that for fact, as I teach there. Also, you can bet they will never have an issue with the NCAA like Ohio State has recently suffered. They don't do that kind of thing.

An expectation of high academics, no ******* bonuses, pressure to finish your degree regardless of NFL recruiting, and uptight Catholic chicks. Those are likely the reasons you are looking for.

'Cool story bro'...it's just at odds with the facts.

So let me see if I have this right... from what I hear...

Notre Dame is not real good right now, but they get hated on.
Notre Dame has had top recruiting classes recently, and they get hated on.
ND's glory days are behind them, but they get hated on.
The Irish are considered college football royalty, and they get hated on.
Notre Dame lost last week, and they got hated on.
The Irish won this week, and they're getting hated on.
Notre Dame doesn't deserve the TV deal they have, so they get hated on.

Success breed haters. When you get hated on win or lose... you're probably a success.

Old story that came to nothing?
:dunno:

I suppose it comes down to what your interpretation of the word 'never' and interpretation of the phrase 'came to nothing' is.

A fair point. Sorry if I overreached with my initial statement. Let me rephrase:

I believe that part of the reason that Notre Dame is currently suffering in their football program is because they are not currently engaging in ******* activities as some of the more "elite" programs are. I don't believe that, if the university continues in its current mind frame, it will ever come up for review as Ohio State and other recently have.

Does that make more sense?

Um, not really because as I pointed out previously, they are getting some of the top players and they're not really a bad team.

Considering their success over the years, their program has been a lot cleaner than most. So they're not perfect. Having read the article, it seems to me they got slammed for some ***** stuff.

If you look for it long enough, you can probably find something questionable under Paterno's watch at Penn State. I'm still trusting them and ND more than other big-time programs.

Meh. whatever. I realise what you pointed out, yet they are not considered a top ten team ever, nor are they performing as they did in their heyday. I think the above things are hurting even the top recruits. An expectation to study, and do well in your classes?

:surprise:

Seriously, in my classes, if any athletic scholarship student is averaging below A-, they have extra tutoring/homework hours they are ****** to do. That kind of **** has an impact, even on people who are high ranking recruits.

 What are you talking about? l/d made a statement that was factually in error. I just pointed out where he was in error.

Speaking of, the infractions OSU is being sanctioned for and even Miami are consistent with the NCAA's findings against ND. So whatever you think of the some of these chargers -- the NCAA says major you say *****, there's little difference from what occurred at Miami and OSU from what was ultimately found at ND.:dunno:

ND has eligibility and compliance standards and so do other programs.

I really find it amazing how much delight everyone takes in shitting on Notre Dame. For a school no one cares about, it gets a lot of attention...

maildude

Postal Paranoiac
Shhhhhh... we won't tell maildude!!

I'm not mad at Notre Dame. Those Irish potato-******* motherfuckers beat us fair and square. Frank Leahy was a commie dickwad and Joe Montana was a cross-dresser. That is all.
