French 2022 presidential election ; April 10th-24th, 2022

we’ve learned Polanski has been filming at the Gstaad Palace with a roughly 100-person crew, his ensemble including Mickey Rourke (as confirmed in an Instagram post) and Portuguese actor Joaquim de Almeida (per Cine Tendiha).

Article published on April 12th, 2022. So I think I can sate clearly that he currently is in Switzereland.
As for the other guy, without his name, I can't tell...

He used to, and they wouldn't send him over here. I didn't know he moved away, I stand correct on Polanski, but the other guy I forgot his last name killed his girlfriend, and got away, and ran to France. He needs tried, and sentenced in the United States.
This dead guy?

How's this for a caricature?

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
The matter went before Prime Minister Lionel Jospin [...] On July 20, 2001, Einhorn was extradited to the United States
[...]
After two hours of deliberation, the jury convicted Einhorn on October 17, 2002, concluding the month-long trial.[4] The following day, he was sentenced to a mandatory life term without the possibility of parole
He was extradited 20 years ago, trialed, sentenced and convicted. He died in jail. I don't know what you mean by "he didn't die like he should have". You would have prefred him to be executed ? That's not what the Jury to his Pennsylvania trial decided.

And, FYI, it was a socialist government that decided to get him extradited, a socialist Prime Minister and a socialist Minister of Justice

I did not Know that, I was wrong, and I stand correct.

And yes, I did mean executed by the state. As should be Polanski. I don't have much sympathy for people who drug and rape little girls.

You would be surprised at the number of people that are willing to turn a blind eye. Makes me wanna vomit.

The number of people willing to turn a blind eye is overstated. I know of no one willing to do so. Examples would be helpful.

And please don't say Hillary/Bill Clinton. Or KBJ...

Macron is the first French president to win re-election in four election cycles, thank you France for rejecting Le Pen.

I'm just referring to the number of parents, who refuse to see a loved one is doing it, or won't believe the child. Things of that nature. I certainly doubt it would be anyone with the power to protect, or prosecute. I just know I've heard some stories from a couple of people I know, who were in law enforcement. I have no specific examples, it was just a comment on how fucked up some people can be.

Another election that was won by "Anybody but..." or an anit-vote instead of a vote.

France has the devil you know, be it good or bad.

I'm surprised Lepen did as well as she did. That is most likely a reflection on my understanding.

Ya know, that Epstein fucker had a lot of political friends, who knows who didn't get named, that might be a shining example in the public eye. Republicans don't hold exclusivity on perversion. Just something to think about.

I'm Anglican as is my friend who texts us all sorts of meme about Roman Catholic priests and pedophilia. Time to time I remind him his is a school teacher and their reputation is far from untarnished.

I think perversions are pretty universal. Some may or may not take sugar in their tea, but they are still drinking tea.

I was going to mention the Catholic Church too until I saw the gender of the child who was drugged and raped.

Yeah. Hopefully my post doesn't come off as making this normal in any way. I was just offering my view that we can't judge a particular group. It exists across society.
I know there are statistics that may refute that.

Not to be too much of a curtain twitcher with France.

With Macron defeating Le Pen, Europe, not just France avoided a far right disaster. Macron is acknowledging a need for improvement, which at least sounds optimistic.

This shows weakness with the centrist, not a complete confirmation. Germany Merkel's centrist government in Germany was repudiated and is shows the weakness in Macron's centrist government.

He is looking to move retirement age from 62 to 65, which is needed.

Populist movements are rising globally. Ignoring them is not a sound approach. Leaders need to see what the people on the far right need and attempt to address those issue, not appease. I certainly don't have the answers, but it is needed. Macron has a reputation of pushing an open society, which is one of those trigger points further on the right. Macron has closed 718 mosques, Muslim schools, and associations for encouraging separation and seized assets that are worth 46 million euros, all with objections to human rights charged against him. That offsets his policies on managing Putin.

Did Macron end up losing in the end? It sounds like France is heading for some US style gridlock.
https://www.politico.eu/article/macron-to-lose-parliamentary-majority-in-stunning-upset/
The situation is VERY VERY complicated here. Macron losing the governing majority is no surprise, most political observers saw it coming. What surprised us is how far Macron is from having it.

There are 577 seats in the Assemblée Nationale, one need to secure 289 to have a governing majority
Macron and his centrist party has 245 seats
The left alliance lead by far left Mélenchon has 142 seats
Marine Lepen and her far right party has 89 seats
The right-wing has 64 seats

Macron could make a deal with the right-wing but their leader, Christian Jacob has already rejected such alliance

The Left wing alliance, wich was created to maximize the number of candidates from the Far Left, the Ecologists and the social-democrats to be elected was set to last only for the election, once elected, every party would go their way. Mélenchon would like it to last to avoid the Far Right to be the main opposer to Macron, which would allow him to secure some key positions in the Asssemblée (such as head of the finance comitee) but the leader of the parties that compos the alliance said this sisn't what they signed for

As for now, the country is ungovernable but things are moving, no one can predicts what's gonna happen...
