I have several questions about the Popular Babes Ranking System on Freeones: http://www.freeones.com/baberank. I am hoping a Mod or knowledgeable Freeones member can shed some light. My apologies if these things are explained somewhere on the Board or Freeones.com, but I did not find it. I've been trying to figure out this system for a while now, at least sporadically. Lately I've been a little obsessed with one star, and in voting for her as often as I can and tracking her progress, I have become downright puzzled by some things.
1. How are the rankings calculated? Next to each "babe's" star rating are two numbers, e.g., [Total:4,207 Average:4.63]. It seems clear the 'Total' is the total number of votes, so is the ranking/standing of each babe based on the total number of stars they have received, the total number of votes times the average, or something else? Clearly the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and cumulative rankings (all of them filters or options on either the Top 100 listing or trend charts) are calculated the same way, so what is that calculation?
2. Are the Totals cumulative or do they reset annually? I'm fairly certain they date back to when the babe was added to FO, but it would be nice to confirm this. Lisa Ann currently has a total of 35,486 votes. I'm guessing not all those votes were cast this year. Again, I'm assuming the 'Total' is the total number of votes, regardless of the number of stars per vote.
3. To rank a babe, one chooses the # of stars they want to give her, and once they make their selection, the 'Total' adjusts up by one...usually. This is why I am assuming the 'Total' is the total number of votes; if I rank a babe with 5 stars and the Total goes up by one, then it probably isn't the # of stars, but the # of votes. However, I have seen cases where I rank a babe, and the Total goes up by considerably more than one. Just this morning I gave Aletta Ocean 4 stars, and the total went from 27400 to 27438. Unless there were 37 other people voting for her at that moment, either the Total didn't load correctly when the page did, or my vote counted for 38 votes. Is this a bug, or am I wrong about the Total being the # of votes?
4. How often are people allowed to rank a babe? When a user (who may be logged in as a member or only a guest) visits a babe's page, her stars are blue. Once they select a rating, the stars turn gold, and if the user hovers their mouse over the stars, a pop up is displayed telling them they have already ranked this babe. Is this supposed to reset every 24 hours so users can vote for a babe once per day?
5. Do the rankings update throughout the day or only once per day, and if so, at what time?
6. Is the listed rank always the Overall Rank? For example, on the Dashboard, the rank listed there is the Overall, not the Porn Star or Adult Model rank, as the case may be. Is this correct?
7. Are the categories/professions (e.g., Adult Model, Porn Star, Musician, etc.) ever re-evaluated or changed? Can a babe be listed in more than one category? I see some babes like Nicole Aniston and Aaliyah Love listed as Adult Models, but they have been doing hardcore g/g and b/g for a while now, so it seems like they would be considered Porn Stars at this point.
This last one is more of a description of what I believe is a general problem than it is a question. At any given moment, a babe's ranking seems to vary considerably across the site. Her ranking is listed on the Top 100 list, on her Dashboard page, in a Top 20 list on the main FO page and at the top of any thread(s) devoted to her on the Board. Her ranking is also listed on her trend/progress chart. The chart, however, usually appears to be 24-48 hours behind. As I look at Lisa Ann's chart and narrow the range to the past week, the last listed date is 7/19, when she was ranked #3, but today is 7/20, and she is #8.
For the chart to be a day or so behind makes sense and is no big deal, but at times I think it is actually wrong. Consider Brooklyn Chase's weekly chart and the recorded value for 7/19:
Brooklyn's rank was not #2 yesterday but #16, and the day before it was #8, not #9. These aren't horribly wrong, but in some cases, I have seen a girl's ranking for a specific day be off by 50 or more. I can't document one such instance at the moment, but I recall seeing a chart the other day (for a different babe) that was #55 when it should have been in the Top 10 at least for that day.
But beyond the chart there is a general tendency for current rankings to be inconsistent across the site. Consider the following screen captures (again for Brooklyn Chase, and all taken within seconds of one another, or at most a minute):
Clearly her ranking yesterday cannot have been #23, #16, #125, #46 and #10 all at the same time. In fact, if you reload these pages, often the results will change. I reloaded her thread, for example, and the #125 changed to #8, which is still two days behind, but no longer a week behind.
So again, if anyone can shed some light on these questions, or if Freeones could track down some of the issues, I would appreciate it.
