Former Sen. Jesse Helms dies at age 86

I would find it okay to rejoice when he lost an election because he no longer had power. Excitment over the death of someone who had ideas you don't like is a different story to me.

Why do you care about him and his views? Are they views that deserve a place in the political discourse of today? Are you just being strangely sentimental?

THe man was an abomination of a human and I feel no sorrow for his loss.

That is a really good question. What am I defending? Not Helms, that's for sure. I was not a fan of the man.

I think maybe manners or something along those lines. I was just really disturbed by the big old hatefest for a dead guy. As I said in my first post, I find it distasteful.
