FireFox downside?

I made the switch to Firefox a while back now and have been searching on a compatable Download manager similar to Download accelorator plus? I just find this easier as it doesn't bring up extra windows and is resume supported.

One stipulation, has to be free I'm afraid. Also on the note if you know of any other tools which are convenient to use please add.

Thanks Ric0

Why?
Not trying be a smartass, it's an honest question. Firefox's build-in download manager works fine. I used to use (sic!) DL managers back in the old 56K-days. Is that the reason? Dial up?
I mean, it depends on what you real intention is... Ok, maybe I like the built-in one b/c I hate to install a lot of programs, that messes your system up sooner or later.

One more thing: WIN XP? 2000? Mac? Something different?

I'm running on Windows XP. The onlly real reason is that with DAP it it doesn't open a new window, I can have multiple icons in the system tray advising me my download %. Nothing major just a preference of mine rather! Oh and I'm def not on dial up, it's the year 2005!

OK, I see. But even in the year 2005 globally speaking the majority of people who are on the net still don't have DSL or cable or whatever.
With firefox all the DL's are running in the background once you chose a location to save to. You can see it by viewing the internal Download Manager <STRG+J>. That is very much like the DAP I used to have (like 7 years back or so) :dunno:
If you want it differently (it's your computer after all), check here:

I'm sure you'll fiind what you need in that list.
And of course, it's all free!
