FireFox 1.5 available soon !

for the moment only the beta 1 is here..

You heard it here first.

10 months and over 5,000 bugs squashed -- Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 is available for download.

win32 | linux | mac

I am actually testing it, FF1.5 is really faster than the old 1.06, not any HDD access even when browsing dozen of pornsite in tabs. Ergonomy has been a little reworked, you can move the tabs now :)
Some drawbacks : most of extension aren't compatible yet (flashgot doesn't work :( ) and I have noticed a few display bugs when bowsing some website..

anyways the progress is here, Firefox is on the right way :thumbsup:
test it carefully :wave:

edit: flashgot plugin works now :)

Here's what's new in Firefox 1.5 Beta 1:

* Automated update to streamline product upgrades. Notification of an update is more prominent, and updates to Firefox may now be half a megabyte or smaller. Updating extensions has also improved.
* Faster browser navigation with improvements to back and forward button performance.
* Drag and drop reordering for browser tabs.
* Improvements to popup blocking.
* Clear Private Data feature provides an easy way to quickly remove personal data through a menu item or keyboard shortcut.
* Answers.com is added to the search engine list.
* Improvements to product usability including descriptive error pages, redesigned options menu, RSS discovery, and "Safe Mode" experience.
* Better accessibility support including DHTML accessibility.
* Report a broken Web site wizard to report Web sites that are not working in Firefox.
* Better support for Mac OS X (10.2 and greater) including profile migration from Safari and Mac Internet Explorer.
* New support for Web Standards including SVG, CSS 2 and CSS 3, and JavaScript 1.6.
* Many security enhancements.
* List of notable bug fixes since Deer Park Alpha 2

I will wait till all the bugs will be solved then I will install it.Thanks for the info.

I've tried Firefox a couple of times, but the lack of interactivity with Microsoft Office programs (notably, Outlook) is very frustrating and a pain in the ass. :crash: Plus, I use the Google toolbar a lot and the last time I tried Firefox there was no compatibility with that.

FamousBabes (former mod here) once turned me on to another browser like Firefox, but for the life of me I cannot remember what it was called. It was really cool and much more useful than Firefox.

I'll stick with Internet Explorer. It's the best, IMHO.
:2 cents: :thumbsup: :hatsoff:

Maybe Thunderbird? I'm using Firefox and love it. Hope the downThemall! extension will work in version 1.5.

I haven't used anything except Firefox for a couple of years now and can't imagine going back to IE. All the toolbars that I've tried work with it and I have had no problems at all. The occurence of pop-ups and virus threats has virtually stopped.

Yeah I will stick with version 1.06 until the new one is out of the testing bug stages

yeah thanks for the info tho, Firefox does rule and so do the extensions

I have to agree with a lot of you- I'll just wait until the new version is ready. I didn't think I'd even like firefox, but once I started using it, it was pretty quickly my default Browser.
