Filesize on signatures

Is there any rule on how big a signature can be in filesize? Some members have huge sigs (1.8mb is the worst example i have seen) that take forever to load and completely messes up my browser as the sig is loading.

I would say around 100k to 200k, any higher I think is wasted space. I have mine at 575x100, 72 ppi and high quality, 120k.
