Favourite Music/Most Hated Music

Ok,

I was thinking today about the way the music industry has gone down the toilet. Music is all about image now and sex, (now sex is good), but can anyone say that they like Britney Spears for her music - (silence) - that's what I thought. Then there's Rap and R&B - I want to put a bullet in Eminem & 50 Cent's head - Ok, let's tone it down. Anyway please list the bands and singers you love and those you absolutely hate.

I'll start:

Favourite - Metallica (from 1983 to 1990), Iron Maiden (from the 80's), Jimi Hendrix, Smashing Pumpkins (damn you Britney and those like her for making them quit), The Darkness, Queen, Bowie, Garbage, U2, INXS, Johnny Cash, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Poe, Rolling Stones, ACDC, Rammstein, Rob Zombie, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, Ozzy Osborne, Motorhead, Niel Young, Trooper, Van Halen, Bush, Guns N' Roses, Kiss, Lenny Kravitz, Heart, Led Zepplin, Rush, and many more....

Hated - All rap, R&B is gay, boy bands are gay, Britney, Christina, and those like them all whores with no talent.

There,
I'm done.
ROCK/METAL rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers.

i agree with u against the pop-bullshit, britney and jessica shuold be famous for their hotness not thier fake singing. Im not into rap, but i do like Jay-Z and the beastie boys but thats it. Rock is my thing: Rage against the machine, 311, rhcp, smashing pumpkins all of that is awsome incubus. and my favorite band of all time Phish sux they are almost done but u can join me at the festival in VT gonna be crazy!

You can't be a real fan of music and hate different kinds of music.

Thats my opinion...

I prefer to listen to rock, but Im a mainstream guy... If its a good song I'll listen to it... Like Bone Thugs Crossroads. I love that song... There are more examples... I like a few DMX songs...

But rock is what I generally listen to.

I'll agree with you that most pop... COUGH Britney Spears COUGH is not music.

Wooooah there, enough of the Britney bashing! I own her Britney CD and I think it's a great record with some top class songs on it. Sure it's about as 'poppy' as it gets, but that's the beauty of it - each track is extremely well produced and has that wonderful glossy quality... (What It's Like To Be Me is a fine example if you happen to locate a copy to listen to!). It's not trying to be something it's not.

If it was full of shitty 2-step dance tracks or pathetic nu-metal "I'm not pop, honest" shite (you know what I'm talking about!) then it would suck the big one.

You must be brave to admit that you own a Britney CD, but you can't seriously consider her a talented person except maybe for shaking her T and A all over the stage or screen.

She sucks, (and yes, I meen that way too).

No man would admit to buying her CD, where's you're testicular fortitude?

Anyway, you brave soul I wish you well, you poor missguided soul.

Give me Metallica and they would destroy cheap acts like Britney.

Now that's male music.

Cheers.

Well I feel a certain sense of satisfaction that I can listen to music (and enjoy it) without feeling ashamed. You think that's misguided then so be it. I just think that you are missing out on a lot of ear candy just because you're too afraid to do so. Shame really.

Cheers.

What?

I think you mean eye-candy. And forgive me, she's a whore.

Now, If you are ok with listening to it, fine. But, you have to admit it is packaged sex and the music is just a side-bar - whoa!
I have to stop myself - I called that music - shame on me.

What about the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's - there's so much ROCK to choose from.

I guess I'm showing my age, because I remember a time when music was music.

And not "Rape on Tape".

Cheers.

Actually I like the music of both Britney Spears AND Metallica. My music taste is very mixed. I like for example the music of also both Spice Girls AND Marilyn Manson. If the music appeals to me, why should I be ashamed? It's completely impossible to find anyone that has the exact same taste in absolutely everything, all people are different. :)

No no, I did mean ear candy, but Britney is a looker, you're not wrong there. Sure, some of her songs are a little risqué, but where's the harm in that? It's pure pop at its best!

Like it or not, music takes on many different forms (besides ROCK). It's art, and art is extremely subjective. You're in to rock and there's nowt wrong with that (plenty o' rock in my CD collection) but you gotta accept that some people do like the music that you'd gladly stamp on. And you won't become any less of a man if you whack on a bit of Slave 4 U every once in a while.

That's not your bag, so fair do's.

I'm gonna admit that I own the latest Christina Aguilera CD and i think it's quite good. I hate R n B, Rap, Hip Hop, Nu Metal, Jazz and I'm not keen on heavy metal.

My likes are Rock, Soft metal, pop and Indie music. I also have a pasion for 80's music also.

rap, and hip hop.

simple
coz there are a huge mass of wiggers out here (in Perth especially in the 'burbs) and they try to act black!
Leave it up to the pro's i say as black people are better rappers! :D

I find the whole idea of grouping music by "category" distasteful.... it's just something they do in record shops for the sake of convenience.

The only preference I will confess to is towards musicians that like to take chances, which I suppose, is a very Rock & Roll way of thinking (though I won't admit it.) ;) The opposite of that.... ie. formulaic music, like sugar-pop and corporate rock, generally turn me off. :)
