As a kid I had a paperback of the screenplay and knew every line before the movie came out.I had imagined what it would look like and was not disappointed.

Agreed with all the above. Yes, Liberty Valance is just superb.

(I am still undecided about The Searchers as a great Western; I'd need to see it again. It's a very complex film IMO).
