HBO should seriously look into The Stand as an epic mini-series. It would be right up their alley and they could do it justice if they put it in the right hands.

There is a miniseries made back in the early 90's, though it wasn't HBO. It was ABC.....yup, the same ABC that gave us Growing Pains, Perfect Strangers, Full House, Step by Step, Family Matters. So, yeah, we need either the HBO that gave us The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, and great miniseries like Band of Brothers, The Pacific and Generation Kill OR..... AMC!!! The same AMC that gave us Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and Mad Men to come up with The Stand miniseries.

Today is Stephen King's 65th birthday. I was going to start a thread like this, but bumping this makes more sense.

As far as "IT" goes, it will be a two part, rated R film for the big screen, directed by Cary Fukunaga. I don't know Fukunaga's work, so I don't know what to expect. I'm expecting it to be better than the made-for-tv miniseries from 1990, of course. I'm 3/4 of the way through reading the book and I definitely see that it deserves a much improved film adaption. Despite the absence of Tim Curry's performance as Pennywise, I still look forward to seeing it...whenever it is finally completed.

How I'd rank them:

The Shining, Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Christine, Carrie, Stand By Me, Creepshow, and It...

... and as for TV films and shows, Salems Lot, The Stand and The Dead Zone. :D

The Dead Zone has both Christopher Walken and Anthony Michael Hall.
