It's more like there not paid that well because they aren't even remotely that important to the industry as compared to how much the women are, and despite the fact you think there is so few of them that could do it they are easily replaceable. Most women are easily replicable, but even more so the men. The vast majority of people that watch it either don't care about the men, are indifferent, or consider them a necessity to have porn exist in the first place. Why do you think they just don't hold out for more money if what you say is the case? Professional athletes who there are a lot more capable people in the world according to you can hold out for millions of dollars. Even if there really was so few capable, and I doubt it, the fact is there is more than enough of them economic wise and somebody would be willing to take their place.
