On Long Island, New York - there was a slight shaking of my cubicle and the blinds by the window. And yes, they evacuated the building where I work. They kept us out until the town's fire department came and said the gas lines in the building were safe. Everyone was out for about 25 minutes. Having never experiencing one, I thought it was pretty cool.
Cellular phones went out... That's about it as far as troubles go.
I imagine it was much worse in Northern Richmond VA where it originated and was recorded at 5.9.
