Eagles Employee Fired For Facebook Post...

A Facebook post criticizing his employer, the Philadelphia Eagles, cost a stadium operations worker his job, according to a story in Monday's Philadelphia Inquirer.

Dan Leone, who the Inquirer said worked as a west gate chief, was unhappy the team let Brian Dawkins sign with the Denver Broncos in free agency. According to the newspaper, Leone posted the following on his Facebook page: "Dan is [expletive] devastated about Dawkins signing with Denver ... Dam Eagles R Retarted!!"

Despite deleting the comment, Leone told the Inquirer the Eagles fired him by phone days later.

The funniest thing about this whole story is how the guy spelled retarded wrong...

But, all hilarious mistakes aside, he shouldn't have been fired for that. What a shitty reason to take someone's job from them. Should he have done that? Probably not. Did he do anything wrong? Hell no.

I don't blame the Eagles' management for their actions. I believe the action is in keeping with their ideals.

Freedom of speech usually pertains to political or gorvernmental matters, so I don't think that applies in this instance.

The NFL prides itself on community service and the work it does with the United Way (which does a lot of stuff with the mentally challenged). Using such words as "retarted" (sic) offends and alienates a lot of people. I always jump on anyone who uses that phrase to describe something or someone as silly or stupid. I think its on a par with the "N" word or perhaps using the word jew as a verb, which I busted my own mother for doing a few years ago.

It's not that I'm a fan of political correctness or anything. I just find the use of a few of these certain words in everyday use tacky.

Many, many of these 50 states dont require a valid, justifying reason to fire someone. My state is one of them. Here.. you can be buttfucked by an employer anytime at all.

Not that I'm black or female or what-have-you.. but what use is equal-opportunity employment if you can be fired for anything at all? The black guys use that all the time with their bosses. You're gonna fire me cuz I'm black?!?

I cant use that reason, however. So that's inequality, inopportune firings for this white male, right here. Then again, I could always pull the jew card.. but this is hardly nazi germany. Meh.
