Duke Nukem Forever LIVES! Maybe?

You've waited 13 years already, so what's another few months? Reports are suggesting that the comically delayed and subsequently cancelled Duke Nukem Forever has been resurrected, with Borderlands developer Gearbox tasked with taking the project to the finishing line.

Having begun in 1997, development on Duke Nukem Forever had seemingly halted after the game's development staff at 3D Realms were let go in May last year. Due to 3D Realms failure to complete the game it was sued for breach of contract by publisher Take-Two, a matter that was resolved earlier this year.

But that's not where Duke Nukem Forever's story ends, it seems. A report on Kotaku suggests that Duke is alive and that Gearbox would be taking the game to completion. Sources at both Take-Two and Gearbox are remaining tight-lipped, although it wouldn't be the first time that the Borderlands developer was associated with the cigar-chomping action hero; Gearbox was outed as the company behind Duke Begins, a project that was scrapped before it ever saw the light of day.

The reports claim that more could be revealed at September's PAX, and that a playable demo could even emerge as soon as this year.

The story of Duke Nukem Forever is a strange and unique one – could this be the final twist in the tale? We'll bring you more as we hear it.

Damn. This long and it might finally come out? Hmm.... every time I see something about this game within a month it is canceled. I love the old PS1 games. I hope this one delivers. It will have a hell of a lot to hold up to taking this damn long!

That is my fear of it. I really enjoyed them a decade ago. I am afraid with this hype and time frame it will flop like a fish out of water before slowly dying. Or it will be exactly what we want and a success. As long as they try not to copy every other FPS/shooter game out there and stand on what made the games great back then, with today's technoloy, clever lines and story/plot, it should turn out to be decent.

I so hope so.

However Gearbox seems to be taking the dev controls. They were able to bring us a grand game known as Borderlands. I hope they deliver and are able to bring us a worthy Duke Nukem.

SURE GEARBOX COULD WORK GREAT BUT the dev is not the problem

its more about the development budget and how good the franchise would fair which has delayed DNF

holy shit it not false this game is on the way out, but yeah i still will not fully belive untill it is sat there in the shop for sale. but trust me know a few people in the know and there is alot of talk of it being out mid 2012. fingers crossed it dose !! and yeah more than likely it's going to be a hugh dissapointment. lol will post a link to new info once it becomes public at the moment it is just inside talk and could still be a big pile of BS

yeah agreed on that don't think it will be that good, but then again i have been wrong on games before and don't mind admitting that.

But this games is coming out it has never been so close so far a major factor in the delay of this game has always been money, this time that is not the case. anyway as i said before i have been wrong in the past but all my sources say yes on this one.

With it being now in the hands of the folks who made Borderlands the credibility of it coming out and being great has went up. For now we shall wait.
