Dropped my iPhone in a sink full of water today.

It was completely submerged . It never powered off. Then the screen started to go haywire for a few minutes then it wouldn't respond. Couldn't bring the keypad up or the photos I saved.

I took it to the AT&T store and they did a master reset . Worked fine but was making a crackling sound when I was trying to talk to people. I thought it was toast. The water must have evaporated and now works good as new. I have dropped a phone in water once before and it killed it immediately.

These things seem pretty indestructable.

not totally :) my car door decided to beat up my iPhone while it was in my coat pocket, lol...it still works, but my lcd screen has 'gray blog' that grows by a few pixels daily! iPhone with contract : $200. Repair busted iPhone: $200+ WTF!!!!!!

Your supossed to unplug the battery as soon as it happens. Keep it off for 3 days and put it in a bowl of dry rice to help dry it off.

Lend it to me, I seam to have the ability of destroying the indestructable. Why are you trying to destroy it anyway? ;)

Lol. I wasn't intentionally trying to destroy it. I was shaving and talking on it when it slipped out of my hands and fell into the sink.

I don't have a iphone but the very first cellphone I got I left it in my pants pocket and threw it in the washer less then week after I bought it. I caught in the first spin cycle and the damn thing was drenched. It was vibrating like it was about to literaly die. I was pissed beyond belief. I took out the battery and let it set for a couple days to dry out and then it worked like a charm. You would never have known that it happened except for a water stain on the screen. I was surprised and happy as hell that I didn't need to replace it. That was a good fucking phone.

Lucky! sometimes they work fine afterwards, sometimes not! There's a tab on the inside the battery cover that changes color so they know it was water damage. So if it does go bad, You're screwed!

^ This actually works for almost any phone that has gotten water damage for me. If you don't have rice, dry oatmeal works but the only thing is it gets really powdery and can be somewhat difficult to clean. Also, taking a hair dryer to it as soon as possible works too

wtf...

I have the iphone, just got it for xmas and its already giving me probs without me damaging it at all. Random app's shut down out of nowhere, even the ones that came pre-programed, and the charge cord only works in 1/3 of my outlets, at random. Ie. it'll charge in the outlet by my bed one nite, but the next nite, it'll only work in the outlet beside my bedroom window. The nite after that, it'll only work in the outlet in the hallway etc.

So lame:mad:

I have an iPhone. It blows a monkey's nut sack. I can't wait for my contract to expire. You know how the phone always works in the commercials and the apps always work properly and the Internet loads really quickly? I wonder what that's like...

This thing is more useful as a fuckin' paperweight than as a phone.

seriously? a couple of my family members just got it and love it. I have a quasi-iphone in the HTC hero and love that! so far so good, but I am usually rough on my phones (thats why I used to have Nextels)

I hear a trick i dont now if is work

You but some rice and your cell in a z-block for the night , i suposse to absorbe the moise in the cell phone

Once the Iphone gets wet, usually your warranty is gone. The phone has several indicators, one which can be seen inside of the headphone jack, that if they change color, Apple won't service the phone anymore under warranty.

I recently splashed water on my brothers c-phone and it went kaput after that. Luckily, he was able to get it working again by putting it in a warm oven so the heat could evaporate the water :)

I read this article yesterday in Scientific American magazine and it shows how to rescue a c-phone device that's been water damaged:

Oh, you think your iPhone's bad? You should try a Samsung Instinct HD. I've been ready to throw mine off the Bay Bridge LOTS of times since I got it in October. I've had it replaced twice because the previous two have been pieces of shit, and this one's a piece of shit as well. Phone freezes, apps close without warning, phone shuts off when it wants to, navigation doesn't work, websites don't load properly (Freeones sucks balls on it. Playing moderator on it is a royal pain in the ass.), making calls freezes the phone, the touch screen keys get stuck, etc., etc., etc. I'm stuck with that piece of shit for the 31 months. :crash: :crash: :crash: :crash: :crash:
