Has anyone ever heard Deep Puple's Made In Japan album? A live album, it was recorded shortly after the release of their classic Machine Head (Smoke On The Waters' home)...I thought some of the tracks were freaking awesome, including some great live renditions of Lazy, Child In Time, Highway Star and a remarkable 20 minute version of Space Trucking.
I think the above performance shows their popularity remains in Japan.

I am a failure to the Korean side of my family
Now only if they could cover BTO's TCB because I have no time to spell the names of bands or their songs.

One of the greatest ever. The versions of "Highway Star" and "Smoke On The Water" absolutely blow away the studio versions.

Hearing "Smoke" on the radio makes me cringe....unless it's the live version from that album. Then; I'll damn near blow the speakers.

Your right, you can go to any bar or club in Japan and the've got all the old rock classic's. Mainly on karaoke machines:D but they are popular over there. Though I haven't been back for over 10 years
