Sayvara I think this is what some people are afraid of if this net neutrality bill gets final approval

Uhm... ok, call me thick or dyslectic or something... but itn't that what they are allowed to do today? What the net neutrality bill does is to make that kind of thing illegal.

Or did I totally miss something here?

I like how anybody with a brain and that was knowledgeable and paying attention to the issue was practically screaming for net neutrality while it's been talked about for years now. Now as soon as it gets a little more media and Republicans and capitalist types get to twist it there own way there are people that all of a sudden get come out against it nearly in hysteria that don't know what they are even arguing for.

The length American's go to to blindly follow some ideology or to be afraid of the socialist bogyman is embarrassing. It’s way past the point where they even think about why they believe what they believe and scrutinize and consider it anymore.

Many times I find myself envying you non Yanks out there.......your populace can't be as fucking stupid and deluded as us Americans can you?

The loudest morons in America are working class blokes in an outrage because they aren't getting screwed by Corporate America hard enough. The cries of "socialism" and "big gubment" are most often coming from the people being doing the bidding of big business who is legally raping the shit out of them.

Net Neutrality means "keeping the Internet as it currently is" ....a NEUTRAL NETWORK (no preference to content), fucking imbeciles

disinformation is a beautiful thing.....it is the Atomic Bomb of the mind........such a little thing (misleading propaganda) can create a tidal wave of destruction.

well the bottom line is that this new net neutrality bill gives the government the power to kill any website they want on the web for no reason at all at any time, they just flip the kill switch and its gone and they don't even have to tell you why, that's the scariest part of this new fake net neutrality bill

I think a major problem with the majority of humanity is that those who are truly good people cannot imagine that there are powerful people out there who are so evil that they will do whatever it takes to gain control over everything on the planet, you see good people don't plot and scheme madness but the hardcore evil jackasses of this world do and that is what people need to understand is that the highest form of hardcore evil is out there and it is trying to hurt all that is good in this world

So, websites which promote illegal file sharing equates to our freedom of speech being taken away?
I guess in using the same logic, my freedom of speech is being taken away by not being allowed to take DVDs from the local rental place without paying for them, right?

this bill is not just about illegal file sharing sites, I agree those should be taken down but what this bill actually does is give the US government the power to flip an internet kill switch whenever they see fit, so for example if your site is spreading information that the US government doesn't like they will just kill your site and they don't have to have a reason to do it, now that is not the net neutrality I want, sharing knowledge and info through various media and social network outlets is what is so great about the web

Infowars? Holy fucking shit, batman!
Its the illumnati lizard people

You're carrying water for the same corporate overlords you think you're fighting against. You wanna letgian telecoms decide what websites you have access to?

NONE of your links cite any source for their insane claims

lol I don't agree 100 percent with everything on infowars but they are alot better then what the mainstream news produces nowadays IMO

This "anti-socialism" nonsense that´s being used by people (usually americans) who apparently haven´t got a fucking clue what socialism really means is really starting to piss me off.

Yeah, well, that's your problem.

Socialism is responsible for the mass murder of over 150 million people. That's why I'm against it, personally. That, among other things. If you don't like it, then prove me wrong with some solid data and facts, instead of just bitching about people who have the sense to know it's a failed system. The ultimate failed system.

Is this what we are talking about?

Is this the socialist revolution we're supposed to be afraid of? Heh... to quote the man... the ledgend... the 1970's movie character: "Sheriff... do the letters eff oh mean anything to you?". :D

Hell yeah I say... go for it! Twist the arms of the ISP's and make the stop trying to force us to do their bidding. Either they sell us an internet connection or they don't... not some half-baked "You can only use what I tell you to" solution. That(!), if anything is socialism: big brother - and his entrepreneuring little bro - telling you what you can and cannot do on your connection.

The standard rules of a free market apply in this matter. If consumers don't like the restrictions, they have the freedom to go to an ISP without them.

The bill does not simply prevent that practice, but forces ISPs to not limit bandwidth allowances based on what a customer pays. That's basically saying that everyone gets as much bandwidth as they want for the same amount of money. Let's just forget how much it costs the ISPs to actually provide it.

Obviously it won't work out like that. Bandwidth will be more limited under the new bill than ever before, and restricted by the government to whichever sites they deem to be higher priority. The text of the bill explicitly states this. Read it.
