Don't forget to "Spring" forward, glitches expected.

I think sooner or later we will have to question the effectiveness of daylight savings time. It seems as more and more of the world doesn’t sleep and more people work all hours of the day and more stores are open 24/7 that it won't matter as much as it might moving forward. Personally I would almost like to have it go back to not existing. It's a pain moving all the clocks twice a year. Even the people that like it because it might make it daylight when children get on the school bus in the morning never notice that it works for 2 weeks before it's dark again.

I have always said its a waste of time. No pun intended. They decided in 2005 to do this three weeks earlier this year. *shakes head* Some states don't even do it, I know Arizona is one. It can cause many problems or inconveniences depending how you look at it.

Fox...are you high?

LL...Indiana just starte the daylight savings shit last year! We used to not do it and it was oh so nice not to have to deal with. Even though I grew up with it in Illinois. So I've been around it both ways. I prefer to leave the time the same all year!

If I had not red this thread, two things would have happened

1. I would have been an hour late for school on Monday

and

2. I would have never realized that it was early this year, which I don't understand why

LL - If I'm repeating anything from your link my apologies. For some reason that page wouldn't load for me.

Mostly economic, from what I've heard. As just one example, apparently the golf industry anticipates a major increase in profits thanks to those extra 3 weeks.

You know I never had a problem with DST until right now! 3 weeks early?

Bullcrap!

Well, tomorrow morning you can sleep in an extra hour? Or like I said, tonight you can change the clock "after" sex and be hero. ;) Imagine laying claim to one hour and 6 minutes.

When given lemons we must try to make lemonade.

I see economic, but I think its mostly to save energy. Although many would benefit I'm sure.

What day is this happening?

Sunday morning 2am. I'll just set mine back before bed tonight since I won't be up at 2am saves confusion in the morning. ;) It doesn't happen in all states, a few are exempt I believe. This will be of some help.

This token cost saving measure of the federal government to save a few dimes, not only has inconvenienced everyone but has apparently cost billions.

It's good to live in a world where there's nothing more important for them to discuss.

Congress introduced a provision in the Energy Policy Act of 2005 mandating that clocks "spring forward" three weeks earlier, on the second Sunday in March, and "fall back" a week later, on the first Sunday in November. But the energy conservation that extra hour of sunlight is supposed to deliver comes with a cost: computer glitches that some fear could run to Y2K proportions.

But the annoyance comes with a price tag. Jeffrey Hammond, senior analyst at Forrester Research, estimates the daylight saving time (DST) switch will cost the average company $50,000 in time and labor expenses — a conservative figure that doesn't take into account missed airline flights or forgotten appointments.

Even the Department of Energy (DOE) isn't convinced changing the clocks will make a dent in energy consumption.

Don't forget to set your clocks up and change those batteries in your smoke detectors.

I'm off the bed now, good night everyone.

I tell you this. If I were president...daylight savings time would be NO MORE!!!

I prefer the sun dial method myself....as old as it may be, atleast it is accurate during the day, and you can set your clocks with it, instead of the gov't telling what time it is when the sun comes up....the sun tells me the time, not some engineer trying to pinch a penny
