Does Music Control The World?...

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
Does Music Control The World?

I was sitting here in my apartment the other night and began flipping through my Music Choice channels, looking for something that I could listen to for a while. I was in a pretty rowdy and amped up mood, and I planned on playing some games on my computer and ******** some beers, so I wanted something that I could kind of "groove" to while I gamed away. As I flipped through the channels, I eventually came across the "Traditional Holiday Music" station, which is currently playing nothing but Christmas songs, 24/7. Immediately, I noticed something strange...

The second that I heard Dean Martin's rendition of Silent Night, I instantly changed moods and began to have a gigantic urge to start cleaning. I wanted to get off of my ass and start dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, scrubbing, etc. It was like "something came over me" and immediately took control of my emotions and urges. So...I began cleaning.

But, then after about 15 minutes, I stopped what I was doing. I thought to myself; "This is strange. This is too strange. Not too long ago, I wanted to do nothing but ***** ****, play video games and rock out. But, now I'm on my hands and knees, scrubbing my bathtub?"

Fast forward to today. The same exact thing happened. I was sitting here, wanting to play some games and zone out for a while, but I happened to flip past the Traditional Holiday Music station again and things instantly changed. I now have freshly dusted shelves, immaculately clean floors, crisp vacuumed carpets and a bedroom that smells like a florist.

:wtf: What the fuck is going on? :wtf:

As I pondered this phenomenon, I began to think back to moments in life where similar things have happened. I noticed that there are other genres of music (even individual songs) that, when I hear them, instantly change my mood, no matter what it may be at the time.

Huey Lewis & The News? I want to go to the bar.
Creedence Clearwater Revival? I want to play or watch baseball.
Phish? I want to get stoned.
Bruce Springsteen? I want to ***** ****.
AC/DC? I want to work out or go running.
Doobie Brothers? I want to play poker.
Def Leppard? I want to go for a drive.

The list goes on and on and on...

I know that it's very common for people to associate songs with memories, but, is the connection so strong that it can alter our moods and somewhat control our following actions? Can hearing a song literally change the outcome of a person's entire day?

:dunno: Does music, in a sense, help to control the world? :dunno:
