Does baseball suck?

Baseball is our national sport, our national pastime. Joining together as men to reward the act of running around in a circle. I will thank you not to take its name in vain, Namreg. I've been playing it since I could walk and actively participated all the way through high school. It's my favorite sport to watch on television. I try to catch as many Cubs games a year as I can whether that be at Wrigley or listening to Len and Bob on Comcast or WGN. I live and die with every win and loss from April to September (and October if we could freakin' get there occasionally). I've had a Cubs bracelet (like the Live Strong ones) that says "Believe." I've worn it for four years and I'm not taking it off until we win the World Series, or more likely, I die. So to me, no baseball does not suck. I leave you with one of my all-time favorite movie quotes. I still get goosebumps when James Earl Jones gives this speech:

People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

GREATEST BASEBALL MOVIE EVER

Cubs fan is rough, but at least your teams have been competitive for the past 17 years unlike my Bucos.

baseball is one of those sports i enjoyed playing way more than watching. but going to a Giants game is actually a lot of fun. its not a sport i'd watch on tv though. but its fun in the stands, well in the teams stands that i've been too. Giants, Cards, Rangers, Astros and Dodgers. I can't really speak for all the other teams. And I'll admit, each time I've been, I havn't paid that much attention to the actual game lol.

Even with its trials, I still love baseball. An affair I will never be able to break, not for anything nor anyone. Should I ever find the right woman, it will be because she understands this.
Sure it can be boring. And it can be frustrating - the Reds have not been in the playoffs since '95 and are nowhere near going in right now. But, every once in a while, I'll get to witness those magical moments that make the game special: the 2008 Rays, DeWayne Wise making a remarkable leaping and tumbling catch, a grounder through the legs of an injured first baseman, a running catch by a fiery 2nd baseman to stop a Brooklyn bases-loaded rally...the list goes on.

There is nothing like going to a night game in the summer and enjoying the sights and sounds of the park, the crack of the bat, the slap of a fastball in the catcher mitt, the crowd clapping after every strike. The smells too are amazing, french fries, hotdogs, hamburgers, nachos, cotten candy, cracker jacks, peanuts, ****. Local food such as Chicago style dogs, pittsburgh style sandwiches etc. Watching a ****** explain to his *** the game and what everything means. the chance to catch a Homerun or foul ball. There is NOTHING like spending a day/night at the ball park.

When the only team you have to cheer for is the Blue Jays, then you think baseball sucks.

Okay, you're going to have to stop talking now. Spring training is still three months away and you're really making me miss baseball right now. :( I also totally agree with everything you posted. My ******* and I (Cubs fans) take my *** (White Sox fan) to an inter-league game every year. Next to the Indy 500, that's my favorite day of the year.

Nothin' better than watchin' a Cubbies game with Len and Bob. :glugglug:

Yeah,I'm a fan.:D

A few years ago, I think it was two years a go. My wife and I were visiting her ****** in Ft, Meyers and I noticed that spring training was starting very soon. So I googled Bradenton, Flordia and we decided to go there for the day just to see the ball park and the training field. I had no idea it was the first day of full practice for the team and needless to say there where people everwhere. A huge majoiryt were older 60's to 70's and retired and they actually spend their spring driving around Flordia to all the spring training sites.

Well long story short we would up getting some hats and baseballs, at the time my *******-in-law had Cancer and we pretty much guilted every player into signing the ball for him. It has been the highlight of a LONGGGGGGGGGG Pirate season, when i get down in the dumps about the Bucos I just think back to spring training and how I did not care of they won or loss, I was actually like a little ***.

While I like hockey better, I still enjoy my baseball games. I love watching the Red Sox and need to make it to a game someday. I have heard there is nothing like being shoulder to shoulder with 35,000 screaming diehard's. I do get to go to the local triple A club for about 6 bucks which is awesome. Not quite the same but we get all the rehab players which is cool. Got Big Papi a few summers back and I herad that both games sold out in less then an hour.

I will admit I didn't pick any of the choices because I am a redneck and I enjoy fishing shows...

It's better than Softball, which gets more attention over here, although neither are very popular.
I say 'no'. I'll usually watch at least some of a MLB game if its on TV.
Go Braves :D

Nothing's as boring to watch as golf, but it comes close. It was somewhat fun to play as a ***, but that's only because we were encouraged to talk **** to each other. Watching it as as a source of entertainment is completely foreign to me.

I love baseball, and for a Mariners fan, that's saying something (maybe next year:dunno:).

BTW, I love curling also, fuck you very much. :thefinger

I have no idea, baseball doesn´t exist in Sweden (well, i guess technically there´s some sort of Swedish league or something, but it´s never shown on tv and they don´t report any results from it). I´m pretty sure i would like it if i got to see a game as i like watching pretty much all sports.
