Does anybody have the FCC :nono: list ?

I was just curious how the "official" FCC rules & regs read.
That's "Federal Communications Commission", for our non American friends.

Does it literally spell out the words of which cannot be said on radio and tv ?

I'd like to see which words are borderline i.e.- the words that you can get away with broadcasting over the airwaves, here and there. Is "hell" actually one of the "do not broadcast" words ?
That's ridiculous, if so !!

I wonder if the criteria is much different in Euro U., Canada and UK ?

That was all, I was just curious. :D

Most countries have some sort of regulatory body, though mainland Europe is meant to be very liberal. I don't know of any European country where nudity can't be shown on TV after a certain hour and the bad language obsession seems to be principally American. How strict is the FCC? Is nudity allowed? What about language? How does the 'watershed' work?

Take a Hit, Spunker!
Try George Carlin's 7 dirty words: Shit, Piss, Fuck, Cunt, Cocksucker, Motherfucker, Tits. I hate the FCC with a passion. Freedom of speech shouldn't be limited to actual in person, face to face talking. If you don't like what's on the radio or tv, in case no one's aware, there's 2 knobs: one turns the radio or tv off and the other one changes the station. But these days freedom of speech is a tight wire act with all the fucking cops and asshole government people trying to shut us all up.

what the fuck you lookin at?
All I know is they are way to strict. Seriously. Why censor words? Not like kids don't learn they're colorful vocabulary in grade school anyway!

I say fuck the FCC

A man so against the FCC he posted twice! That's our legz!

::round of applause::

Why censor words? Not a bad question. There is the easiest common sense route to the answer: Parents dont want to be spend as much time with their kids as their parents did, and their parents' parents. Parents have a babysitter called TV/Video Games/da internetz.

That's the reality of it, no use really fighting against the flow of the tide so much as fighting the censorship.

yea, damn lag. Anyway using the net as a babysitter? Yea, that'll keep kids from learing "dirty" words. They don't have anyway to censor the internet. Thank god for that by the way! If they start censoring my internet, I'm gonna lose it and go on a killing spree!

Censorship really is out of control these days.

From what I understand about US TV, which is very little, is that you cannot on the major stations swear at all? I may be wrong, does this include after 9pm? But heres what I dont get you can have for example Jack Bauer blowing peoples heads off but if he swears then its a big deal???? :dunno: I dont get that at all.

There is no restriction on words that can be said on Swedish tv (except for some channels that are registered in the UK, they have to follow British laws. At least that´s how i understand it). Some popular Swedish movies have titles that could never be used in the US. For example: "Fucking Åmål", "Knullar Fiskar? (Do Fishes Fuck?)", "Hip, Hip Hora (Hip Hip Whore)".

Here (the UK) we seem to be more relaxed on bad language "shit" is said at 7pm and after 9pm "fuck" etc can be said. :dunno:
