There are Travellers in all parts of Europe as far as I know. Do you have Travellers in the US?

Not really. There are some here, but not in any dense population or migrating population.

When I was in Europe, I was bit shocked to actual Gypsies (Romani). In America, we only know about them through fictional movies and novels.

I have occasionally seen people that look like the Romani types I believe you are describing But it's a pretty rare sight. And if you want pegs or heather you have to go to the store for that stuff.

You mean homeless people?

I've known many people who claimed gypsy family origins, and there are some communities that started as gypsy settlements. But as far as large traveling groups of gypsies? No, I've never seen or heard of any.

It seemed there was a surge in this area around 20 years ago, but I honestly have not heard of any in recent areas, at least in this area.

There's a whole country of poor, weird people over here. We call it Mexico.

Heading to Germany and Austria this year, sure Ill come accross them again. I just ignore them, quite annoying...

They're called "hippies."

And their numbers have gone down considerably ever since The Grateful Dead stopped touring.

I think they converted to Widespread Panic and are called "Spreadheads" these days.

And some became the CEOs of large companies and are the douchebags who drove Tyco, Enron, and other comapnies into the ground for their own gain and amusement.

Yes, there are thousands of Roma gypsies in the US...they don't drive wagons anymore so I can see why so many people are so easily lulled into complacency...!
Travellers are a seriously private group of Irish descent who live here and do very similar scams as the Gypsies...but they aren't Roma, they're Irish.

"There are about 20,000 Romani Americans (Roma) in Texas, out of a national population of about one million. Romani people, commonly known as Gypsies, have been in the Americas since 1498, when Columbus brought some on his third voyage to the West Indies."

I'm not much clearer, do you have gypsies, doesn't matter if they're of romanian or irish descent, basically, excluding trailer-parks, are there people that live in caravans and travel about?(that aren't on holiday either)
