Dinosaur Jr. Yey or Ney?

They are one on my personal favorites.
Funny though I never really listened to them until last year although they've been recording since 85.
They influenced a lot of groups, especially Nirvana and from them their influence spread.
To me they're one of the best groups ever, musically.
J. Mascis to me is one of the best song writers and guitarists ever.
And one of the most under rated.
He also has a group called J Mascis and the Fog

So I just want to know your opinions, especially the rock fans here.
What do ya think of this group?

I own '****'. I haven't really listened to a lot of their stuff, but of what I've heard I liked.

I'd say, "yea" - Murph, the drummer, seems to carry the rhythm pretty well. That's the first thing I listen for. The drumming. He reminds me of Ed Cassidy of Spririt. It's their bald heads. Cassidy is a legendary drummer. Barlow keeps his bass playing reasonable. He doesn't seem to overdue it. As of Mascis, he's a pretty good lead guitarist.

The wikipedia entry mentions, "extensive use of feedback and distortion"...

Has anyone here listened to Led Zeppelin's Presence album lately? Jimmy Page experimented with both feedback and distortion on that album. Especially on "Tea for One" and "Nobody's Fault But Mine."

you and i have similar tastes in music i think, generally.

dinosaur jr has inspired a lot of the bands i really like, namely the pumpkins.

im dabbled in them but haven't listened to enough to really say yet.

let me investigate.
