Do I believe we were capable of landing on the moon? Yes.

Do I believe we were capable of fooling everyone into thinking we landed on the moon? Yes.

Do I know which actually occurred? No.

Does this bother me? No.

Why not? Because the ability to fool most of the planet into believing we went to the moon when we really didn't was - and still is - at least as valuable to this country as actually landing on it.

I watched it happen on TV when I was 11.It was Very exciting.

You're THAT old? Time does play tricks with your memory.........along with that was back in 1969, when EVERYONE was on LSD and who knows what else!

Do we have the right stuff to get to the moon today? I believe we do. Remember that just a little less than 2 years before the supposed moon landing, 3 astronauts were killed in a fire on a launch pad. Now if NASA is the same as it was back then, it would be more than 2 or 3 years before another shuttle was launched. Look at Challenger and Columbia: both tragedies grounded the space program for a MINIMUM of 24 months. After Challenger, NASA was almost totally disbanded and I wish it would've been. NASA is a total waste of time and money.

I hear all this talk about why there isn't a moonbase. And why we haven't gone back.

Why would we ever NEED a moonbase? There's nothing on the moon but rocks, craters, dirt, and more rocks. So, there's really no need to go back there either.

I mean, I guess if you wanted to look for that cheese they're always talking about...

But, why would we spend the money to go back to the moon? You want that kind of excitement, come to my home town. All the appeal of NOTHING, on the cheap.

We have airplanes that can get me from my little hometown, to Europe in under an hour. Did we land on the moon? Yeah. We did. A better question is, why am I still here, when I could be drinking cocktails in Mykonos by sundown, my time?

there is a larger issue here - we actually have no moon. we've all been duped into believing there is a moon in order for nasa to perpetuate its bogus claims of having conquered the moon.

don't try to land on the moon, that would be impossible. try to remember that there is no moon.

(yes, of course we went to the moon.)

Actually older lol.Moon landing was in July of 69,I turned 12 in October.I remember the launch pad fire, that was actually devastating to me at the time to think of them dying like that.Took us like a year to get program going again. As someone who watched many of the early space flights going back to the gemini program(not old enough to really remember mercury) I just laugh at anyone who thinks it all was faked or something.

While I still very much support space exploration/Nasa but it is different then it was then. There was a sense of we must do this and and we cannot let anything stop us.

And just for the record it was still a couple years before I "turned on, tuned in and dropped out" per Timothy Leary's advice.:D

Actually you can see the stuff that was left behind on the moon by the Apollo missions with a very simple telescope, the kind you can get at Walmart for example.

Apollo 11 site southern part of the Sea of Tranquility 00.67408 °N 23.47297 °E

Apollo 12 site Ocean of Storms 3°11'51"S 23°23'8"W

Apollo 14 site Fra Mauro (named for the map maker) 3.64530° S 17.47136° W

Apollo 15 site Hadley Rille 26.13222° N 3.63386° E.

Apollo 15 Lunar Rover 26.08°N 3.66°E

Apollo 16 site Descartes Highlands 8.97301° S 15.49812° E

Apollo 17 site Taurus-Littrow 20.19080° N 30.77168° E

There are 3 Laser retroreflectors arrays on the moon that ARE visable the one that is located at the Apollo 15 site is much larger than the other two and is very easy to make out even with a simple Telescope. It is basicly a huge bycycle reflector and it will 'glint' when you are looking at it.
Now you can't see the flag at the Apollo 11 site but with a really good Telescope you can make out the retroreflector which is not too far away.

the retroreflectors are basically proof-positive. while there are conspiracy theorists who still say they were launched with shuttles, this can be summarily dismissed. we really don't even have the robotic technology now to place these things on the moon, we certainly didn't 40 years ago when they first came into use.

Actually we have 4 'moons' well, 1 Moon and 3 big objects in resonant orbits (that I am aware of)
The biggest and easiest to spot of the 3 is Cruithne which is sometimes called our 2nd moon but it is not in orbit with us so it is not really a moon.
Cruithne is a bit far away right now but when it gets close to us I'm sure we will hear it on the news.

Hey! Get out of here with your "facts."

They're not welcome here!!!

Of course we went to the Moon, that's not the question we should be asking ourselves. The real question is has the Earth been infiltrated by the Zebulonians from the planet Zebulon that is located in the far off galaxy of Alpha Beta Gamma Omega 6 3 4 5?

Personally, I have no doubt that man landed on the Moon.

But I read an interesting point of view on an another forum:

There is no officially recognized evidence for existence of UFOs, only testimonials, photographs and videos of which many have been proven false, and especially there is no material evidence (such as leftovers from aliens on our planet) available to the public that can substantiate their existence. As a result of that, more and more people believe that aliens visit us.

On the contrary, man's endeavor to set foot the Moon is one of the most thoroughly documented and media-covered events in the history of mankind. As a result, more and more people think it's fake :D

I can understand you don't buy it but think about it NASA is backed by the military reguardless on what they say they landed on the moon and they made sure it happened before the 1970's to prove to us all and the once USSR we are the big dogs in the yard and that was the main reason if you guys noticed then a lot of the Cold War tensions died down and a lot more talking happen I'm just saying:dunno:
