Did anyone else catch Benjamin Netanyahu's speech?

Yeah, sanction and embargo are used interchangeably but even the official embargo we've had on Cuba has been "strengthened" since it was first implemented, the Helms-Burton Act being one example.

True, it was strengthened by making the embargo federal law. However, an embargo doesn't need to be made federal law.

Oh, BTW... for anyone who wants to make like I'm perpetuating some sort of anti-Semitic stereotype^^^, it's not about that at all. This is what it's about. In a country that's up to its ears in debt, I am pissed that we borrow money so we can give it away. What sane person would do that? No one would! And no country should be doing it either!!! And so, I am most definitely going to call out the biggest beggar nation of them all. If ya don't like it, you'll get over it... or ya won't. I don't give a ****. But it is time to end this madness! Imagine giving someone even $121. Would you let them come into your house and talk ****? Hells no! And if you've gotten $121 billion... ol' Bibi or Bipsy or Booboo or whatever they call him, should have been outside shoveling snow off the White House lawn and not saying a damn thing except, "Thank you, America!"

It drives 75% of the aid back to the defense industry in America.

Deniers research the media lie video I posted somewhere 2-3 weeks ago about Israel and the West Banks America style with the Native American style in the late 1800s we have enough land. Like when gold was found in the Black Hills. Israel has occupied the West Bank illegally since the late 60s, building settlements and claiming well they have our citizens there and with our aid use our weapons and help support to settle the longest ****** feud war in history.

****** feud. Research and critical think the origin of a certain ****** A.... on the Jews and Palestinian main begot.

The ****** feud property. Smart GOP people here know what this is:

Dis the POTUS as N whatever trying to spell his name just gave a preview of the GOP motives for the military complex if they win in 2016. **** the poor and create a bigger crisis on ISIS recruitment after all Rumsfeldt bad planning and Bremer's de-Bathication in Iraq was planned to create chaos for years.

Cheney, not direct quote, "The war on ****** will last for years"

Research some of the companies Cheney is on as defense contract board member or major stock holder related on your own time instead of me answering Fox News sheep style on how to flame dis-belief on the net with now me not wasting my time on the obvious.

If we're not going to negotiate from some stance of mutual respect....what?

Mutual respect, yeah, that's whats at play here. Obama would probably bow to Ali Khamenei in his presence but do you think the leaders of Iran "respect" us? The Obama administration wants to kick this can down the road (10 years should be enough time to lay blame on the next president) and the Iranian regime wants to obtain a nuclear weapon with as little pain as possible.

Then if negociations is off the table, how should this issue be dealed with ?
Bomb the **** out of Iran ? The nuclear installations are underground, missiles wouldn't do any damages to them. But it would surely hurt innocent civilians. Send ground troops ? See how it has worked fine in Iraq...
Also, the thing is we need a strong iranian regime 'cause if that regime weakens, ISIS will seize control over the country, like they did in Iraq

How about regime change? We did it in Libya. We just have to wait for that Persian Spring to rise up ... again.

Now wait a minute. One of the board's paragons of Conservatism just described our policy in Libya as a foreign policy failure. Now you're saying we should do more of the same?

If the US proactively pushed for regime change in Iran, how many new recruits would sign up for ISIS, ISIL, Al Queda and every other Muslim extremist group because of it? And of course, after you promote it and we try it, it will wind up being all Obama's fault when it turns out to be an abject failure.

Any other bright ideas?

That was being tongue-in-cheek. Obama was all for the people of the arab world rising up against their secular dictators and in the case of Libya, facilitating the overthrow of Ghaddafi with U.S. airpower but when the Iranian people did it it was crickets. At least at first. Obama did later condemn the Iranian government's crackdown on the protesters. So there's that.

How about a military coup in Iran as what happened in Egypt when the Obama-backed Muslim Brotherhood was deposed and then hunted down? Egypt's military is now conducting air strikes on terrorist groups in Libya without consulting the U.S. and have declared Hamas a terrorist organization.

Iran needs another Shah.

Can we have some realization that you can't lump all Arab/Muslim/Middle East countries together any more than you can do so with the US/Canada/GB/France? Libya and Iran are/were two completely separate situations. And as we all know, Libya came with consequences.

We're spinning our wheels here. Netanyahu offered no viable alternatives, Congress has offered no viable alternatives an no one on this board has offered any viable alternatives than to stay at the negotiation table. No one has said it's going to be easy and no one has guaranteed a happy ending. But no one has offered any viable alternatives.

See my last post, I think I just did, by accident. An overthrow of the Iranian mullahs by their military. I can't imagine all their generals are religious whack jobs.

How about regime change? We did it in Libya.
And it ended with a US abassador ****** by terrorists.

Yeah, 'cause the arab spring was so sucessfull :

Lybia : Government had to move away from Tripoli 'cause the city is too dangerous.
Tunisia : just god rid of a fairly elected radical muslim government a year ago
Egyp : Military dictatorship took power through a coup in which they overthrown muslim brotherhood fairly elected government
Syria : anti-assad rebel are ISIS' allies

So yeah, Persian spring, great idea. I'm sure Al-Baghaddi can't wait for that to happen !

It's not like I'd be sorry to see a regime change in Iran. But you suggesting a military coup as a potential happy ending seems a bit ridiculous. But in either case, you are talking about a purely internal event which would cause more harm than good if the US had any involvement whatsoever.

So the question remains: What should the US do that it isn't doing already?

Not a happy ending but the lesser of evils and what's best for the western world. And with a military junta in control, maybe Iranians can start listening to music without being flogged. Who knows?

So the question remains: What should the US do that it isn't doing already?

For the above scenario, ramp up the sanctions, arrange contacts with senior military figures in Iran. "Overthrow these khomeneis and we'll set you up for life." Opulence is a powerful thing.

George Herbert Walker Bush didn't do fuck to help the protestors in Tiananmen Square so China still being Communist is all his fucking fault. << Same logic as this Obama needs to __________________ to help Iran depose their despots.

except for the inconsistency in bombing the **** out of Libya to remove Ghaddafi? Or supporting the overthrow of Mubarak in Egypt.

And Obama sucks.

How does bombing Libya or supporting the overthrow of Mubarak in Egypt have anything to do with Iran? It doesn't. You're just using this as another fulcrum for criticism. The right wing can keep ****** Wolf, everyone is still totally listening.

Thanks for throwing that parting shot in there, as if anyone had any doubt you thought otherwise.
