Not exactly sure how this thread was transformed into a debate on Bush and Republicans.
Same reason it would be Democrats on a more conservative board, people have agendas to push and a majority that will back them.
This whole thread reminds me of how out-of-touch people are from reality. People will say whatever that aligns themselves to a political stance, even if it goes against what they normally believe.
People didn't care about oil until the prices came up because of non-US demand and people pulling money out of real estate and putting it in commodities. Now we have a lot of people saying we're only 5 years from running out of oil. The same people who were buying SUVs when Clinton was in.
People also forget that a great majority of Al Gore's family wealth comes from oil too. And he only recently (in the last 2 years) actually started doing just some of the things in his personal life, but is still largely a hypocrite.
And the alleged "character" of different politicians just makes me laugh. Both W. and Clinton are poor examples of character. To talk about W.'s character and say Clinton's was anything is laughable. Clinton did put people needlessly in harms way, and did screw up on many details as well.
I'm not talking about Clinton's sex life, but his general attitude towards women while saying "do as I say not do as I do." I'm glad the leader of NOW came under fire for defending Clinton when Clinton would blantantly ignore instigating sexual harassment while pushing it on others.
Hypocrisy has been the staple of many US Presidents. I personally think the last two (2) have been rather poor. But then again, the US public has played a general role in "the problem" since the '70s. Even W. and Clinton have both tried to stop that in many cases, to no avail.
