I think for me part of the fantasy is that these girls are out there and can be doing what I am watching right now or that there is ever the slightest possibility that I might hook up with one of them. So if I know that a star is dead (like Lea de Mae or Chloe Jones) then I avoid their movies.

I don't think too much about what they do when they're not on camera, so it doesn't enter my head much if one has died. I don't watch Savannah because I didn't find her particularly exciting to watch.

Why not? I watch movies with Humphrey Bogart, John Wayne, Judy Garland, Cary Grant, William Holden, Marilyn Monroe, John Belushi etc. Why should porn movies be any different?

It depends. Some of them are just accidents or illness, which is sad and might make seeing them perform a little difficult.

With Savannah (Shannon Wilsey), I could no longer watch her in a video. One can say she was her own worst enemy by allowing scumbags to take advantage of her, but she was young when she met that POS Gregg Allman, and her home life was horrible. She was truly a lost soul, along with drugs and her choice of boyfriends pushed her into a realm that was certainly going to spiral downward without intervention. A lot can be said about Savannah, she was stubborn, mean, and hated life for the most part, but she was loyal to her true friends and deep down was just crying inside.

It's clear to those who've read about her or knew her that she wasn't the greatest performer on film. She was very boring and almost tuned out the sex. In private she was said to be a wild child and really into sex, the complete opposite of on screen. IMO she didn't like performing sex on camera, and was only in it for the money. It got her some recognition from fans and celebrities, and that was all she really wanted in life at that point.

When she comitted suicide, she had fallen into bad times financially. Her car was a prized possesion and she had just smashed into a tree/fence. Add that to the injuries she felt were going to ruin her beauty, along with drugs, and she was overcome with depression and loss of control. Knowing what I know about her, I feel very sorry for her and the friends who really loved her. Jeanna Fine was torn up about it, and it's clearly visible in the scenes she performed after Savannah died.

Knowing all of this, I simply can't watch her in porn.

I don't think that the real question is whether it is something wrong in watching and getting aroused by dead pornstars. The real question is whether a pornstar does what she does willingly or not. And that is reflected in the way one passes away.
I really liked Karen Lancaume but was really shocked to find out that she commited suicide in January this year. In her videos, she seemed that she actually enjoyed what she did, but after her death I did a little search and found that she actually resented the whole industry and did a movie (Baise moi I think it was called, pardon my French!) where she played a kind of avenging angel (haven't seen the movie, but as far as I have heard, it was quite good, not exactly a porn flick and not exactly a regular movie either). In her bio I have read that she entered the whole thing unwillingly, but then stuck with it.
What gets me is that I want to think of pornstars as willing participants in what they do, and not as mere objects for someone else to get rich. I am not against porn (hell, if I was I wouldn't be in this forum!) but I want to know that the girls do what they do because they like it. I truly doubt that acting in hardcore movies is easy ( as I read in a thread), it must take a tremendous strong kind of self consiousness and realism for someone to perform. And it may be a little too hard for some of the actors to cope with the realities. And sometimes, they break.
So I hate to see myself the last link of a chain that feeds from a girl that had no choice in the matter of participating in the adult industries. I hate to be one of those who, even unwillingly, resulted in forcing someones hand. And because I don't know all these girls personally, and don't know whether they thought about the whole thing really hard before entering the adult industry, their suicide is the clear mark that they were not doing it willingly. So it makes me feel bad about myself.
I don't know if my views are shared, and I know that maybe I am a little off topic. But my answer is no, I can't get aroused by a dead pornstar, especially when she died by her own hand.

I would have to say that I don't get the same feeling of arousal knowing that the actress is deceased. Call it respect, sadness, whatever... It just doesn't feel/seem right.

One of my most favorite actresses in the adult industry was Trinity Loren, and I'm still saddened by her passing. Partly because of how she died...drug overdose. As Ragstagir said in his excellent post, it's somewhat disturbing to think sometimes that the very thing that we love these women for is the same thing that leads them to drugs, alcoholism, suicide...etc.

I still find her extremely attractive, and still think of her as a sort of 'standard' that I hold other actresses up to. The same goes for Marilyn Monroe. She was one of the most beautiful women ever, and I compare women to her constantly. But can I find sexual satisfaction in either of them...not really.

Some people have asked how is a deceased porn actress any different from Jimmy Hendrix, Humphrey Bogart, Judy Garland or any other dead performer? We can still enjoy thier work after they have passed away... That's true to a point but I guess for me, the difference is I don't have my pants around my ankles when I'm watching Judy Garland in 'The Wizard of Oz'. :1orglaugh

Just makes me feel weird.

I honestly don't know -

I understand where everyone is coming from re: the analogy to dead mainstream film-stars...I don't have second thoughts about watching movies starring Grace Kelly, Marilyn Munroe or Jane Mansfield.
Yet If I watched a porn movie starring Mary Millington, my first thoughts turn to her committing suicide, and I would also feel unease watching any porn movie knowing that the star of said movie is deceased.
