Yep, this is great! Not only for British boxing but for boxing in general. Valuev was awful, he is big & strong(ish) but has no technical skill as a boxer & does the sport a disservice. He was content to throw single punches & plod around while Haye took the only real option, fight on the backfoot & hope to frustrate/tire out Valuev. A dangerous tactic as it might not have gone down well with the judges, & the scorcard was close, but it worked. Haye shook him a bit in the last round but it was not the most exciting fight I've ever seen.

I think boxing is getting more like a circus as time goes on compared
to the fighters of the past like Marciano,Ali and Tyson etc.
Haye I thought deserved the win as he made more of an effort to
win the fight.I think if Valuev was more assertive like Haye in the
ring,then we may have seen another fight altogether.But i'm glad

If any of you had actually watched the match you wouldn't be agreeing with the outcome, it's fucking bullshit.
Haye just danced around like a fairy. Valuev was coming at him fucking relentlessly, he didn't move back once. Ok, Haye did a fantastic job of avoiding the hits, but it is literally all he did. In the last minute he suddenly lashed out and got some hits in, but you shouldn't win on one minute of performance after 12 rounds of ballet dancing.
Even the British commentator said he was awful, and it sounded like he tried to throw his mic away in disgust.
I don't understand why Haye automatically thought he had won as soon as the bell went. He spent the whole match believing he was winning even though the score cards were almost a complete draw.

I actually watched it, I thought Haye hadn't done enough & needed to throw more punches, so his win was a bit surprising. But his basic tactic was the only way to fight Valuev, you can't go toe to toe with someone like that. & after the fight Haye revealed that he had a suspected broken hand early on which would explain his lack of punching. & its laughable to say Valuev was coming at Haye relentlessly, unless you think plodding around & throwing single punches with no combination attacks at all is relentless. Valuev is a joke, he has no skill at all & brings the sport into disrepute with his very presence.
As for the fact that people love Haye purely because he is British? Well its also because he's a talented boxer, but what is wrong with supporting our British sportsmen? This is a common problem among us Brits, we seem to delight in slagging off/hating anyone that makes any achievements in their chosen field! Why?!?
On the other hand Audrey Harrison is British & I hate him!!
Just watched it online, damn that was a bad HW fight. Neither guy deserved a win and Haye did not beat the champ. To get a decision over the champ you should have to win convincingly.

No, I like Haye, I just didn't like his fight. If he had done well I wouldn't be slagging him off. I just don't think he deserved the win.

It certainly wasn't the greatest fight ever, but for the sport's sake I'm glad a boxer one not a guy that doesn't deserve to be in the ring.

The way Valuev was throwing punches it would have been pretty easy to get good hits in, but he didn't even bother.

Even everyone I watched it with last night couldnt believe Haye won it , heavyweight boxing is shit now there should be only 1 Heavyweight champion not umpteen belts flying around , too many times now we see the best guy lose & its only so they can get more money for a rematch its bullshit & this is the last Heavyweight title bout I will watch ever , all Haye did was runaway hes shit and doesnt deserve fuck all
