Torn & Frayed.
I think the song you're referring to is "Keep Me In Your Heart For Awhile". Me, too.And if I'm not mistaken, a better example would have been Warren Zevon. There was a song on his last album, that sure as hell sounded like a goodbye, to me....made me fuckin cry, as a matter of fact. And his appearance on Lettermen....great quote, and words to live by. "Enjoy every sandwich", because you never know which one will be the last. Also, that song I told you to listen to, with Bonnie Raite. It's from an album, of the same name.
"Enjoy every sandwich" are now words that I live by. That whole Letterman show is just almost too much. Also, when The Wallflowers (with special guest Jordan Zevon) played "Lawyers, Guns and Money" on a different episode, and Jordan sang the line "Dad, get me out of this!!", I almost lost it right there.
"Poor, Poor Pitiful Me". Great song. I was more familiar with Linda Ronstandts' version, but Jackson Brown and Bonnie Raitt's version is now my favorite.
Edit: I'm amused by the fact that Bonnie has galleries here. I associate this site with porn, not so much other performing arts.
