Maybe the problem was he was too nice. It's sad to think that way, but sometimes the law and the society we live in forces peoples hands like that where it wouldn't if it wasn't so stupid. I know what my father would have done in the same situation if somebody would have messed with his daughter. One day they guy would have just disappeared off the face of the Earth and nobody would ever see him again or know what happened or even know he was dead, and it would be impossible to prove anything. That way he's stops the guy from ever doing anything thing like that again, and doesn't even have to worry about the guy suing him or the law going after him for basically defending others.
