Dangers of Visine,Cleareyes and other "get the red out" eye drops

many people don't know this but these eye drops that claim to "get the red out" are REALLY BAD for your eyes. I learned it the hard way having damaged my eyes after frequent use of cleareyes for a couple months. hopefully you guys don't make the mistake I and many thousands of people made.

what these drops do (vasoconstrictors) is constrict your eyes ***** vessels, depriving them of oxygen. this in turn makes your eyes all white. If you do this very often then your eyes will reach a point where the drops will no longer get your eyes looking white and you will be left with chronic red eyes and other potential complications such as dry eyes. plus they contain a very harmful preservative (Benzalkonium chloride) which eats a way at the ocular surface.

so all in all these eye drops are very bad for your eyes. stay away from them!

visine is bad. clear eyes is bad. rhoto is bad... etc.

here's how you can tell if an eye drop is a vasoconstrictor. check the list of ingredients. if it carries any of following names then it's a vasoconstrictor:
(a) Ephedrine hydrochloride, 0.123 percent.
(b) Naphazoline hydrochloride, 0.01 to 0.03 percent.
(c) Phenylephrine hydrochloride, 0.08 to 0.2 percent.
(d) Tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride, 0.01 to 0.05 percent.

So now you know.
